Hello all,
I recently purchased a Winegard 7084 and I am contemplating mounting options. It seems that my best bet would be to mount the antenna to a large brick chimney approx 4-5' above a flat roof. It is stout and in solid condition. This particular chimney is flush to the side of the wall of the house, with no gutter, etc in the way.
Due to the size of the antenna (131"), I am wary to mount it using a only a chimney mount kit. My concern is the stress it will cause on the masonry chimney. I am leaning toward a "ground-up" mast and chimney mount combination. I am not in a high wind area, however we do get some decent thunderstorms and Sandy definitely blew us around! I am not sure if I am being overly cautious here, so I was hoping for your input/opinions.
My thoughts were: 1st - mount the antenna using a ground-up mast and wall brackets. 2nd - secure the top of the mast to the chimney using chimney mounts.
Not sure how much of the load/stress this set-up would take off the chimney, but figured I'd throw it out there for your opinions.
Thanks!
