Something Strange Going on

I have been using a roof top antenna the past 2 years at our vacation home at the Jersey shore. Recently on several occassions I have lost the reception of the channels that I get on a regular basis whwere the transmitters are no more than 40 miles away and have been picking up channels that are between 300 to 400 miles away. This has happened 3 times in the past 6 weeks. Has anyone else ever have an experience like this. Could Sun Spot Activity be causing this? It happens usually late evening and last 6 to 7 hours.

No, it's not due to sunspots.

It's a phenomenon called "tropospheric ducting". https://www.google.com/search?q=trop...x-a&channel=sb
