Antenna advice for Nashua NH

Hello,
I am trying to get OTA TV for my condo in Nashua NH. I have to install the antenna in the attic. I have already tried the Clearstream 2V from antennasdirect. I had success with that on all stations I wanted except WFXT(25.1). I don't care about the channels in the VHF range.

Here is my report:

Thanks

Hello Superbrew,

You've run into one of the reasons we don't recommend attic installations. Only strong to moderate signals can "punch" through the solid material of your roof.

WFXT is about 23db in signal strength which is trending weak. The TV fool report shows you the yellow color is indicative of what you might see in an attic installation. You'll notice WFXT is down towards the bottom.

Generally anything below 25db signal strength in an attic is going to be hit and miss. In this case, WFXT is a miss.

If you are stuck in the attic, which it sounds like you are - you need to go bigger, especially with UHF.

I tend to go overkill in attics just because I know when you mount in an attic you reduce signal strengths considerably. Disclaimer: Even with the a strong, high gain UHF antenna, you can still have problems with reception due to the hostile conditions within an attic.

My antenna of choice would be:

1: Antennas Direct DB8e orientated to magnetic 171.

Good that you wish to ignore the NH stations, you can focus your antenna exclusively on Boston.

Here is the Federal Antenna Law that says Yes you can install a Tv antenna of any size above the roof so as to have Reliable Reception.

http://www.fcc.gov/mb/facts/otard.html.

Install a , http://www.antennacraft.net.

HBU11K antenna above the roof in such a manner that the roof and building are not , obstructing , impeding , blocking , reception in the directions of , South , South West , South East , North , North East.

Aim the HBU11K antenna at about 180 degree magnetic compass direction.

Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

Use a Real and Actual magnetic compass to aim antenna.

Thanks Stephanie and Teleview,

Stephanie,
What do you think about the Solid Signal HDB8x? It is half the cost of the DB8e

Teleview,
I took a look at the link you sent regarding the FCC law. It appears that I can install an antenna on my deck, but not on the roof or exterior wall.
From the site:
For example, your condominium or apartment may include a balcony, terrace, deck or patio that only you can use, and the rule applies to these areas. The rule does not apply to common areas, such as the roof, the hallways, the walkways or the exterior walls of a condominium or apartment building.

Unfortunately, my deck is on the opposite side of the condo that I would need for good reception. I have ~4ft of height to install an antenna in my attic.

Are any of those small satellite dishes on the outside of the condos??

http://www.antennacraft.net.

Antenna Craft has the HDX1000 Broadcast Tv Antenna that is designed to look like a small satellite dish.
