Post Next step: Antenna

Bought an indoor RCA rabbit ear type antenna(ANT 111F) for local stations and found I only received a fuzzy WCIU station.

Then found your site and found signal info: http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...46aebdd538fc3f
which to me seems to confirm I should be able to receive more stations.

Next I looked at my TV = Sharp lc-20sh6u 2006 LCD EDTV. Specs = TV STD – NTSC, TV Tuning sys – PLL 181 ch.

So here’s where I’m at: Maybe I’m not getting HD stations due to not having HDTV?, If I’m picking up some signal from WCIU, why not better signal? If I can pick up WCIU, why not other non-HDTV signals because they are being broadcast from the same local. Is there an inexpensive device to read which signals are available at a specific location?

Can anyone provide guidance on next steps? How do I proceed with minimal costs? Thanks

Specs = TV STD – NTSC,
You now need an ATSC tuner. You'll either need a converter box or a new TV set.

The Tv / Tuning Device , Must Be Capable of Tuning the , ATSC , aka , 8VSB , Digital Broadcast Tv stations/channels.

A NTSC Analog tuner will Not tune the digital broadcast tv stations/channels.

Here are some converter boxes.

Put the simple RCA 111 , rabbit ears antenna in/at a window that faces , South East or South.

The main group of Tv stations is to the , South East.

Aim the antenna at about 150 degree magnetic compass direction.

Here is how to aim indoor and out door antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

If the Tv is not in/at the window then run a Long coax from the antenna in/at the window to the Tv.

Must Channel Scan for the , OTA=Over The Air , Digital Broadcast Tv stations/channels.

Some digital tv's will Automatic channel scan for cable tv channels.

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.

Go into the Tv Setup Menu and select , Digital , 'Air Channels' ~ 'Antenna Channels'.

Scan for channels.
