Questions About 2-Way Splitters

I use an inexpensive 5 - 900 MHz 2-way splitter to connect my DB2 antenna, and amplified rabbit ears, to a coaxial cable to my television. After a lot of trial and error, the combination of the two antennas provides the best reception for me. I've seen more expensive 2-way splitters such as 2 Gigahertz, and 5 - 1000 MHz. Would the expensive, higher MHz and Gigahertz, splitters perform any better than the inexpensive 2-way splitter I currently use?

Also, there is one connector on splitters marked "in" and two connectors marked "out." I use the connectors marked "out" for the incoming signals received by my antennas, and the "in" connector for the coaxial cable connected to the television. Is there any difference between the "in" and "out" connectors? I always think I'm using the splitter backwards.

Consider a UVSJ instead of a two way splitter. The DB2 connects to the UHF port, the rabbit ears to the VHF port. Both VHF and UHF stations should work better than using a standard splitter.

Here is a UVSJ. Not sure what that is from Radio Shack going by the description provided???

Yes, it is. It's a fairly good one, at that. See the first review . You will pay a premium for the privilege of buying it at a retail store. The Pico-Macom one in TG's link is slightly "better" in terms of insertion loss on UHF.

Be sure to take the output of the amplified rabbit ears' power inserter and feed that into the VHF port of the UVSJ. Connect the DB2 to the UHF port and run the OUT (or combined) port to your set or converter box.

I'm in a valley. On the Interactive TV Coverage Browser, my home's location is always one color down from the immediate surrounding area. None of the channels I view are LOS. A rooftop antenna set at a minimum of 13 feet would provide LOS reception for me, but it is not a viable option for my current situation. For me, the signal strength of most of the channels is 35% to 50%. I'll take better performance, even if it is only a small amount.

Naomi is giving information and asking questions / little bits and nibbles at a time. The latitude and longitude of 32,75 and -96.79 is the Dallas part of the Dallas - Fort worth Metroplex. . Is Naomi's reception location in a house , condo , mobile home , motor home ? or what type or kind of building or structure ? Is the reception location wrapped with but not limited to any type or kind of metal such as metal siding or stucko with stucko WIRE ? Is the reception location made of poured concrete ? Is the reception location in a basement ?

All of these questions are above ground level questions. All of the questions are related , but even so , are separate questions . Can Naomi put a outdoor antenna on a outside wall ? Can Naomi put the outside antenna up high , close to the top of the roof ? Can Naomi put the outside antenna on a outside wall that is more or less in the direction of the Tv transmitters ?
