2 story house, mount will be on the roof (approximately 25 feet)
Connecting to 3 tuners, no more than 100' (1 is probably 25 feet from the antenna and the other 2 between 50-75) 1 of the 3 tuners will be a Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2250 which is actually a dual tuner so I'm guessing it has to split the signal again.
At this point I am only interested in picking up the NY stations and am looking at a Winegard YA 1713 for ABC and then either an Antennas Direct 91XG or one of the bow tie antennas (4228HD, DB8, etc) for for the UHF channels. Since all of the important channels are coming from the same direction, I'm thinking that the 91XG is probably the way to go since I'm not really concerned with a wide angle of stations. On the other hand, since the stations are 45 miles away will I have better success aiming the antenna if I use one of the wider ones? From everything I've read it seems like the 91XG, 4228HD and DB8 are all within a few dBi of each other and their prices are pretty close to one another. Does any one have an advantage over the other? How about durability and ability to withstand the elements?
Finally, I'm also wondering if a pre amp will be necessary. I'm assuming yes but wasn't sure.
Thanks in advance.
