New Antenna

I am looking for a new antenna for a southern california location. http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...e1c6152cdb095d

I will be putting the antenna on a pole above the roof, about 30 feet. Not sure if I need an amplifier.
I want to receive:
CBS
NBC
ABC
FOX
KCAL

Based on the path profile links in your TV Fool report, I'd use two antennas and a preamp with a built-in combiner.

Consider the Antennas Direct 91XG + Antennacraft Y10713 + RCA TVPRAMP1R.

You'll have a much better chance of success if you mount outdoors, clear of obstructions. Use a starting aim of about 270° to 275° (compass). If mounting on the same mast, put the 91XG at the top, and the Y10713 at least 3' below the bottom of the upper antenna. (That tends to rule out a 5' mast. If you have a Home Depot within range, they likely stock 10.5' chain-link fence top rail which has served me well in several installations.)

If the well is dry and you don't see rain on the horizon, you'll need to dig the hole deeper. (If the antenna can't get the job done, an amp won't fix it.)

Above the Peak of the Roof in such a manner that reception is not , obstructed, impeded , blocked , by the roof and building in the directions of , West , South West , East.

-------------------------

Install a Antennas Direct , DB8e , UHF channels 14 thru 51 antenna.

Aim one panel at about 100 degree magnetic compass direction.

Aim the other panel at about 275 degree magnetic compass direction.

--------------------------

Here is how to aim antennas , www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html

Use a Real and Actual magnetic compass to aim antenna , do not trust a cell phone compass.

---------------------

About 3 feet below the , DB8e antenna on the same antenna mast.

Install a , www.antennacraft.net , CS600 , VHF channels 2 thru 13 antenna aimed at about , 275 degree magnetic compass direction.

-----------------------------

Install a , www.antennacraft.net , 10G221 preamplifier.

Connect the DB8e UHF antenna to the UHF connection of the preamp.

Connect the CS600 , VHF channels 2 thru 13 antenna to the VHF connection of the preamp.

---------------------------

Here are some above the roof antenna mounts.

Use the , ronard(911) , 5 foot tripod antenna mount.

www.ronard.com/34424560.html
Use the , ronard(4560) , eave antenna mount.

www.ronard.com/ychim.html
Measure around the chimney and use a , ronard(2212) , ronard(2218) , ronard(2224) .

-------

Home Depot has , 10 foot 6 inch lengths of 1 and 3/8 inch diameter , TOP RAIL , chain link fence , PIPE , that makes good antenna mast pipe , the price is low at about 10 dollars.

-------------------------------

As always , trees and tree leaves , plants And plant leaves , have a Negative Effect on Broadcast Tv Reception and so do buildings and other obstructions including your own roof and building in the directions of reception including your own roof and building.

Some and not all Negative Effects are.

Absorbing and Blocking Reception.

Multi-Path Reflecting Tv Signals Bouncing All Around.

The Best Pratice for Reliable Reception is to install the antennas at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception including your own roof and building.

The Tv/s Must Channel Scan for , ATSC-Digital Broadcast Tv Stations/Channels , often named the , Antenna Channels , ATSC Channels , Air Channels , in the Tv Setup Menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

Some digital tv 's will Automatic channel scan for cable tv channels.

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.

Go into the Tv Setup Menu and select and channel scan for the ATSC-Digital Broadcast Tv Stations/Channels.
