beginner needs help

We just moved to NJ and we can not get direct tv at our place because of all the trees surrounding our house. Im really considering getting rid of it all and just using the internet, and antenna for local channels. I'm not sure if an antenna would actually work either because of the trees. According to the maps I checked on this site, all the channels are in NYC(38.9 miles away). I was looking at the winegard 8200u and possibly an amp if needed(not sure which one). I don't mind spending the money on this stuff but I'm just worried that the reception will be bad or I won't get channels at all. House is a 2 story and I really would prefer to put it in the attic but will install on the roof if I have to. Any help would be great. Thanks

Not sure why that is saying its 65 miles when the interactive is showing 38.9 miles.

Tv Reception.

The signal strength of the Tv transmissions are weak at your location.

Recommend Above the roof of the 2 story house install a Winegard HD8200U antenna with a Winegard AP8700 preamp , aimed at about 130 degree magnetic compass direction.

Here is how to aim antennas and etc. , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

Here are some Strong and Sturdy antenna mounts , http://www.ronard.com/909911.html , http://www.ronard.com/34424560.html , http://www.ronard.com/ychim.html , http://www.ronard.com.

Buy the ronard antenna mounts at solidsignal by typing the word ronard in the solidsignal search box.

Here are some places to buy antennas and etc. , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.winegarddirect.com , http://www.amazon.com.

For 1 Tv connected use no splitter.

For 2 Tv's connected use a , HFS-2D 2 way splitter.

For 3 Tv's connected use a , HFS-3D 3 way splitter.

http://www.hollandelectronics.com , also at , http://www.solidsignal.com.

____________

The Tv/s Must Channel Scan for the Digital Broadcast Tv Channels , sometimes named the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv setup menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna,

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.
