suggestion for attic

Curious what you guys would suggest for an attic install. I will be using rg6. currently on the first floor of my town home i am able to pick up abc cbs nbc and fox. no luck with cw which i would really like to get.

If the roof is not , metal roof , does not have metal backed insulation , does not have solar panels. Then I recommend a Antennacraft U4000 antenna aimed at about 230 degree magnetic compass. Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna /pointing/pointing.html. WUPV-DT real digital channel 47 will be received through the back side of U4000. It's best to mount the antenna as high as possible in the attic and keep the antenna away from ducting and heating/air conditioning if there is any in the attic. Large metal objects can effect the reception mostly in a negative way so mount the antenna away from large metal objects. If a brick or metal chimney goes up through attic mount the U4000 so the chimney does not block reception of the front or back side of the U4000.

Most Tv guides list the channels as virtual channels.

Thanks for the help. Here are some more questions if you dont mind. The antenna you reccomended is for uhf which is primarily what all the stations around me broadcast. But 12 is vhf so will i still be able to pick that up on this antenna or should i be looking for a vhf/uhf combination? Also i do have a rather small attic and the hvac unit is located there. I do have the option if needed to install the antenna on my shed out back. This would put the antenna around around 10 feet from the ground and at 230 degrees straight at the back of my house. where the attic would have it at 25 feet but hanging above the hvac unit. Channel 12 is Very Strong at your location and will be received by the U4000. However if you will like a VHF/UHF antenna then use a Winegard HD7694P antenna. You can try either antenna in the attic. If does not work well there then mount on the shed , if mounted on the shed the antenna will need reception that is not blocked by the house or other objects to the north east and south west , so get the antenna up in the air.
