What is the intended behavior of "duplicate" virtual channels?
I live in a fringe-reception area with a very lively broadcast market (San Francisco), and I'm puzzling over what should happen when there is "station ambiguity." Here's the background:
A...

Terrestrial "call signs" -- are they required to be correct?
I have an odd situation, where I receive a very weak signal from a station that is a "clone" of another one much farther away. The close station and the far one are both 3 kW ERP transmitting on...

Do solar panels decrease antenna performance?
Hi.
I live in a deep-fringe area (nearest real station is 70 miles) and I put a really nice antenna into the attic (built it in before the ceiling plasterboard was put in...can't change it now...). ...

Did some further research, analysis, and testing.
One of the things that surprised me was the breadth of the beamwidth, which on a dish you'd expect to be pretty narrow. At these frequencies and...

Big dish on tower
Wow, well if you've got a 3000 lb+ foundation that's cool.
I'm not sure how you're going to get the dish very far up in the air--you'll need to set up some sort of winch system or use a very tall...

First Impressions with 10 foot parabolic antenna
So, the first thing you have to realize is that the 10' C-band antennas are pretty solid, heavy and with a fair degree of wind resistance. As the reflecting surface is typically expanded metal with 2...
