need some help..please

have ditched directv last week.Got a roku box and netflix.I am trying to find what kindof antenna i need to pull in my locals.

i want to het 12..9..13..40..Ive tried a couple indoor antenna;s,both of them just brought in ch 12 although it was crystal clear,holding ant.. by the window.
i tried the rca discrete $30 bucks at walmart,and the leaf for $58 bucks..pretty much the same reception on both.My plan is to mount to existing pole for my dish[after i take dish off]Ive looked at rca ant 751,and the clearstream 2v..the bracket for the dish is mounted on roof....what ive read i can mount either of these to old dish pole.i was told on antennaweb to put a preamp on too...do i need too? the cords are only going about 75 feet at longest http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...e1c68c81106d1b

Ok, looks like you will get an answer from a non-pro to ponder. Given that you want FOX a very weak UHF station the following is suggested. Forget the idea of the existing setup. Go with a roof mounted tripod. Study piece of 8' or so 1 3/8" chainlink fence toprail.

DB8e from Antenna Direct for the UHF portion, which is channel 15 and above pointed directly at Fox at 70 degrees. You might be able to pull it in with a 91XG, but the advantage goes to the DB8e and I presume you want to get it right the first time. (UPDATE - looking at my past calculations the DB8e only has about 1 db advantage on that channel. So, given the smaller size of the 91XG and ease of handling you could easily do that instead.)

For the HiVHF I would go with an Antenna Craft Y10-7-13 4' below the DB8e. Pointed at 81 degrees for your weaker HiVHF stations. (I'm presuming you do not need LoVHF channel 6. If you do, please advise as that changes everything) (Double UPDATE - Antennacraft Yagi HD Antenna Y5-7-13 is cheaper and you have plenty of signal I think for the smaller and cheaper version to work, would be a nice setup overall with the 91XG)

Connect with new RG6 coax and compression fittings and waterproofed outdoor connections (coax seal tape). How many tv's and tuners are you hooking up?

Amp suggestion would be to try an RCA TVPRAMP1R Antenna Pre-Amplifier. Set in combined setting, click to verify, FM filter on and connect UHF to UHF side and VHF to VHF side.

That is what I would try. Actually you are lucky with your signals being arranged the way they are, this makes thing much easier. Best of luck, others will chime in as well.

Flint Ridge nailed it... I second the DB8E + Y10713 +TVPRAMP1R suggestion. (The Y5713 may or may not be enough antenna given the 2Edge conditions.)

The Best Practice for Reliable Reception is to instal the antennas at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception including your own roof and building.

thank you for all your answers,really appreciate it.my existing roof mount ia a tripod from direct tv,not just a j tube.really only need my living room tv hooked up,was only mentioning tvs if i could use existing dtv setup.if i only hookup my living room tv,its about 35 to 40 ft from antenna to tv. does that change anything? also if i didnt ansolutely need fox would i need the preamp?

If you have the mount already, then this is easier. If GroundUrMast says DB8e with the Y10713, then I would go back to that and the beauty of the amp is that is combines and filters the signals in a very neat package. Likewise it is low cost and would help make your other stations as well. The strength of your signals is really not that great on the UHF side. Similar to some stations I have at 70 miles away and this amp really does a nice job and at under $30 I think you will thank yourself later.
