Did I make the right choice?

I had a lava2605(I know) and I actually received a lot of channels with it, but due to me not paying attention to what I was doing it bit the dust. I ordered a solid signal HDB91x and a Chanel master cm7777 preamp. I am trying to get the ion channel and the m.e. Channel and abc also. I have tried the clearstream 2 outdoor antenna and I cannot get anywhere near the channels as I did with the 2605. I only get cbs and PBS with the cs2. I don't know how to post my tv fool report, but my zip code is24931. I am looking forward to hearing your advise. Thanks. My antenna will be at 20 feet.

Post your TVFool report by following the instructions on the page where your report is at.

Did you get the C2 or the C2V? Do you have it aimed properly? (Yes, it is necessary).

HI 223fan,

I took the liberty of creating a tv fool plot based on your zip code. It is not specific, but gives us the roughest outline of what may be possible for you.

This is what I came up with: http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...5b94e0f686a884

You will notice you have VHF and UHF stations. VHF is in two bands, low (real channels 2-6) and high (real channels 7-13) in addition to UHF (real channels 14 and up). This requires an all band antenna.

That leaves your solid Solid Signal HDB91x as being the wrong antenna for your application. It is a UHF design that is highly direction. You need an all band antenna.

As such, until you post your TVfool plot to your specific address, I might be inclined to suggest a "big gun" all band antenna in the Antennacraft HD1850. http://www.solidsignal.com/pview.asp...a-%28hd1850%29

Orientated to magnetic 163, I might think I'll see PBS, CBS, FOX and possibly ION when coupled with the channel master 7777.

This is all just preliminary, until you provide specific location data.

The signal strengths are Weak Signal Strength.

To see if signal strength improve , please make and post 3
Tvfool reports using your exact address , 25 feet and 40 feet 60 feet antenna heights above ground.

Your options are limited to "Go big or don't go at all".

You have potential stations on all three bands coming from three different directions. Your UHF reception will be, by far the toughest as demonstrated by the C2V picking up your two strongest VHF channels with a simple dipole. Realistically, your only additions will be WVVA (NBC, CW, METV) and WLFB (Religious).

You'd need either a single large antenna on a rotor or a non-rotor system with three antennas: A low-VHF antenna aimed at WBRA, a High-VHF antenna aimed the opposite direction, and a large directional UHF antenna aimed to the southeast. All the antennas need to be combined, then fed into a pre-amp. Per the TVFool plot, I see no prospect of reliable and stable reception of either ABC or ION, but I've been around long enough to know that the TVFool simulation is never the last word, an real antenna up on the air is.

We'll I picked up NBC , I still get cbs, I figured this much because I can get it with just coax. If I turn the antenna I can get pbs and a differant nbc. I'm gonna play with it some more tomorrow. Now if there was some way not to have to rescan my tv with every direction change.

I know what you mean... I just wish you could tune to a channel and move the antenna to try to get reception like the analog days. Rescanning eats up so much time.

Channel Master 3020

Right now I am running 2 solid signal yagi's( pointed In different directions).I had the channel master give to me and was wondering if it was a better antenna. I thought about taking one of the yagi's down and outing the cm in its place. I am still seeking the elusive abc and ion channels.

The HDB91x is a UHF only design. The 3020 will do far better with VHF (real CH-2 through CH-13).

You have it, so try it. You'll either get something or you won't.
