Need verly strong indoor antenna

Hi. In the process of kissing off Comcast. I now have streaming, but I also want whatever local channels I can receive. To my immediate east is Lake St. Clair, so that's just barren. Since I live in an apartment, I'm limited to indoor antennae. I'd appreciate any solid recommendations.
Also, I need a digital tuner since my Sony KVS-32hs420 doesn't have a digital tuner. So, if anybody has any recommendations about that, I would be grateful.

Consider the Terk HDTVi (not HDTVa).

If you can find a decent price on one, I have been most impressed with the Zenith DTT-901. Sadly, the price is usually too high given the unit is only capable of 480i output to the TV. The last price I saw at Amazon was over $160 US. If you want a basic non-HD converter and can't find a reasonable deal on the DTT-901, consider an RCA DTA-800.

You can get HD capable units such as the Channel Master CM-7001 for less than $140 US. There are also DVR units that will provide conversion... expect to see prices at $300 and up.

The main group of Digital Tv Transmitters is to the West. It is best to put a Terk HDTVi , (not the HDTVa) antenna in a window that is to the west aimed at about 264 degree magnetic compass direction.

Here is how to aim indoor antennas and outdoor antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

The building structure that has the least amount of reduction and blockage of indoor antenna reception is , wood with wood or vinyl siding and composition shingle roof.

Here is a - non complete - list of situations that will have more reduction or blockage of reception.

Metal siding , metal roof , solar panels , metal backed insulation , concrete walls , concrete blocks , brick walls , big rocks for walls , etc..

As always trees and trees leaves do a real fine job of reducing or blocking reception and so do buildings and other obstructions including the apartment building.

It is best to install a antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception including the apartment building.

The Tv/s Must Channel Scan for the Digital Broadcast Tv Channels , sometimes named the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv setup menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

Do Not channel scan for cable tv channels.

Here are some places to buy antennas and etc. , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.amazon.com , http://www.tigerdirect.com.
____________

Walmart has the simple RCA DTA800B1 digital converter box , the output is the legacy standard Definition 480i analog to the Tv.

The DTA800B1 is updated from earlier boxes and easier to use.

Here are boxes that have High Definition and more.
