Bidirectional reception question

I would like to receive channels 8, 15, 38, and 49 via antenna(s) in the attic (the attic is huge). A rotor is not an option for me.

I was thinking of aiming an Antennacraft Y10-7-13 at channel 8, aiming an
Antennacraft U-8000 towards the north, and combining the signals.

-OR-

Would an AntennaCraft HBU44 aimed at channel 8 be able to pull the UHF channels through the "back" of the antenna? Would the high front-to-back ratio prevent reception of the UHF stations?

I would appreciate people's thoughts if either of these options would work, or
if there is another option I have not considered. Thanks!

If you have an ideal attic, the HBU-44 could work, but you won't know the reception conditions in the attic until you try. I like the dual antenna option best. You get to dial in the reception/aim of real CH-8 with out sacrificing performance going after the UHF signals.

I have some concern about the relative angle of WEAU, real CH-38. There is a construction permit for a translator on real CH-25, if it's on the air your choice of the 8-element panel antenna is great. I have not found anything to suggest it's on the air though. If real CH-25 is on the air, you've got a good plan. If it's going to be some time before the translator is brought on-line, there are other ideas to consider. Let's discuss those options once we know they are actually needed.

Above the roof install a ANT751 antenna aimed at about 174 degree magnetic compass direction.
Toward channel 8.

The ANT751 does have some forward gain for improved reception of channel 8.

The ANT751 is not a very directional antenna and Will receive the stronger Digital Tv stations/channels to the north west and east.

For 1 Tv connected use no splitter. No antenna amplifier.

For 2 Tv's connected use a common simple 2 way splitter. No antenna amplifier.

For 3 Tv's connected use a common simple 3 way splitter. No antenna amplifier.

As always , trees and tree leaves do a real fine job of reducing or blocking Tv reception and so do buildings and other obstructions including your own house.

It is best to install a antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception.

The Tv/s Must Channel Scan for the Digital Broadcast Tv Channels , sometimes named the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv setup menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.

I am choosing an attic mount for aesthetic reasons, so will likely go with the two antennas in the attic.

The WEAU channel 25 translator is not on the air, so I need to plan on pulling in real channel 38.

What option would you recommend to pick up the 128 degree spread of UHF channels?

Here is the Federal Antenna Law that say Yes you can , install , use , maintain , antennas above the roof.

Hoa's , housing coven-nuts , and etc. , are well aware of this Federal Antenna Law and know that they must comply with it.

Attics Are Not a reception friendly environment for Tv reception and never will be a reception friendly environment for Tv reception.

Install The ANT751 Tv antenna in the attic for reception of the Digital Tv stations/channels to the , north/north west , south , east.

The Tv transmissions are strong at your location with the weakest one being channel 8.

The ANT751 is a directional antenna with some forward antenna gain , that is why the ANT751 is aimed at channel 8.

HOWEVER the ANT751 is not all that directional and will receive the Tv stations to the , north/north west , south , east.

The ANT751 will most likely receive the Digital Tv stations in the attic.

If there is , no foil backed insulation , no metal roof , no concrete type roof tiles , no solar panels.

Keep the ANT751 away from metal HVAC unit and duct work as much as possible.

It is usually best to get the antenna up high in the attic.

The U8000 is simply too directional to expect reception of real CH-38 if aimed at the main group of UHF signals to the NW.

The ANT-751 is a good place to start. If it works as a one antenna solution... great. If you find it can't reliably receive all stations, it can be incorporated into a multiple antenna solution. It also serves as an economical test antenna in the attic. If you find poor reception in the attic, try outside in the clear.

I ended up pointing a Y10-7-13 at real channel 8, and am able to pull it in with no issues. It is worth noting that this antenna pulls in UHF signals quite well for being marketed as a VHF-Hi antenna.

I took a U4000 and aimed at real channel 38. I flipped the bars up on this antenna in an effort to make it bidirectional. I was able to pull in channel 38 and the UHF stations to the northwest.

This was all done in the attic so things worked out well.

Very good , The turning of the reflector rods to make the U4000 a 2 directional antenna I have recommended many times.

The U8000 can be modified by removing the reflector rods.

Use a UVSJ to connect the U4000 and Y10-7-13 together.
