Need help with apartment antenna

Hi all -

Currently living in an apartment and very cable free. I've been researching HDTV antennas a little and finally pulled the trigger on a RCA ANT1400. I live in a very populated part of the city and not far from a lot of the main stations. This RCA antenna did great at picking up most local channels except our local NBC affiliate. I'm looking for an antenna that I can keep close to my TV, preferably on the TV stand about 10 feet from the nearest window. My apartment is on the second floor. I really only care about Abc, CBS, Fox, and NBC.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Tv Reception.

If the building is wood frame with wood or vinyl siding , no metal backed insulation , no metal roof , reception should be Ok.

Aim a TERK HDTVi non amplified antenna at about 5 degree magnetic compass , in between the Digital Tv station and stations to the north west and north east.

Extend the VHF channels reception rods out and adjust the rods to a low vee position.

Here is how to aim indoor antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

If the building is , concrete , concrete block , cinder block , big rocks for walls , brick from ground to roof , metal siding , metal roof , metal backed insulation , solar panels , reception will be reduced or blocked.

Move the HDTVi antenna to a window that is to the north east.

The Tv or tuning device Must Channel Scan for the Digital Broadcast Tv Channels sometimes named the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' because the Tv transmissions travel through the air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.

Here are places to buy antennas and etc. , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.amazon.com.
