Question Ota?

Recently stumbled upon this site and it got me thinking. Just wondering if there is a good antenna setup that is possible at my location. Here's my report:

http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...46ae5a65b19ed6

Just curious which channels are possible as well, not sure how to read the report!

Thanks in advance!

The tvfool report says , resolved to block level only.

For accurate reception information for making a antenna recommendation.

Please make and post 2 more tvfool reports using the Exact address to make the report and make the antenna heights 25 feet above ground and 40 feet above ground.

Do not delete the first tvfool block level report.

I entered my address when asked but it apparently didn't like it... Here is a new report using the coordinates centred on my roof with Google maps.

Further antenna aiming , Think of your self standing behind the DB8e antenna looking out toward the Tv transmitters.

The Left 4 Bowtie panel is aimed at about 0 degree magnetic compass direction.

The Right 4 Bowtie panel is aimed at about 39 degree magnetic compass direction.

For 1 Tv connected Test reception with no antenna system amplifier

Use No splitter with 1 Tv connected.

Antenna systems 1 and 2 are Separate antenna systems all the way to the location of the Tv.

At the location of the Tv , connect antenna systems , 1 and 2 , to a Remote control A/B antenna switch and switch is then connected to the Tv.

Buy the Remote Control A/B Antenna Switch at , http://www.mcmelectronics.com. Part # 32-4425.

Aim both panels of the DB8e antenna at about 178 degree magnetic compass direction.

Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

Use a Real and Actual magnetic compass to aim antenna.

For 1 Tv connected Test reception with No antenna system amplifier.

For 1 Tv connected use No splitter.

Use the , ronard (4560) , eave antenna mount.

As always , trees and tree leaves , plants and plant leaves , have a Negative Effect on Broadcast Tv Reception and so do buildings and other obstructions including your own roof and building.

The Best Practice is to install the antennas at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception including your own roof and building.

------------------------------------

The Tv Must Channel scan for the , OTA=Over The Air , Digital Broadcast Tv stations/channels , often named the ~ DTV Channels ~ Broadcast Channels ~ Antenna Channels ~ Air Channels ~ in the Tv Setup Menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the Air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

Some Digital Tv's will Automatic channel scan for cable Tv channels.

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.

Go in to the Tv Setup Menu and select ~ DTV Channels ~ Broadcast Channels ~ Antenna Channels ~ Air Channels ~.

Scan for channels.

placement

How far apart should the two antennas be? Just wondering if I could put one on each side of my chimney (less holes into the roof to seal?) for example... I definitely expected it to be expensive but didn't anticipate $500 or more to get these 14 channels

Yes can install one antenna on one side of chimney and other antenna on other side of chimney.

------

You can Test reception with 1 , DB8e antenna.

Aim one of the 4 Bowtie panels at about 10 degrees magnetic compass direction , a in between aim direction for reception of the , North Group and North East group at the Same time.

And aim the other 4 Bowtie panel at about 178 degree magnetic compass direction for reception of the South Group Tv stations.

One antenna with one coax down lead and No A/B switch.

If reception is weak and has drop outs on the weak Tv channels in the Red reception zone of the Tvfool report then install a Channel Master CM7778 preamp.

This one DB8e antenna with panels aimed different directions will most likely work , however I can not say 100% that it will.

A lot depends on avoiding local close trees and other obstructions in the directions of reception.
