Antop antennas?

Hello,

While on Amazon.ca today I noticed this antenna brand called Antop.

See antopusa.com .

I was particularly interested in the AT-400B model.

The range that they are claiming is 65-80 miles. It has a "smartpass" amplifier (there's a switch that turns I assume just turns the amplifier on and off) and the gain of the amplifier is 20dB.

Anyone had an experience with this brand or this particular antenna?

I cannot speak directly to your question about antop antennas.
However, every month, I pull down a dozen or so similar antennas
that don't work well from the start and don't hold up over time.
Save your money, time and effort. Winegard, Channel Master and
my personal favorite MCM have decent antennas at reasonable
prices that hold up well over time.........

Three guesses who makes the antennas that MCM sells... First two don't count.

Spoiler:
Highlight the following white text: Antop is the "retail"brand name for Qiaohua's antennas who also makes the antennas that MCM is selling under their Stellar Labs house brand.

That would be news to us. They don't have anything to do with our ClearStream antennas and you're not seeing one of OUR C2V antennas.

Someone in China (probably Qiaohua) was knocking off the C2V a couple of years ago and selling through a US dealer on Amazon. Our attorneys took care of the US-based dealer regarding that model but I wouldn't be surprised if the manufacturer was still promoting it elsewhere in the world. you're probably seeing an image of a knockoff that, at first glance, looks like our design. A much closer look would show the cosmetic details of the loops were modified (angular instead of a smooth circle) so it looked a bit different.

Thanks!

Yes, a knockoff is a distinct possibility but usually they
only reproduce items that actually work or are good sellers.

I think the old maxim is "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery".

I think I found the image you saw in the press release from the 2016 show in Hong Kong. That is the exact knockoff that we shut down from the seller on Amazon.
