Want to watch Olympics! is a roof antenna the only way?

Since NBC has a strangle hold on the Olympics, I am desperately trying to get NBC ota. I get several channels with my RCA ANT1400 indoor flat multi-directional antenna (upgrade from a really basic RCA) and my KCPI digital converter box (i have an older tv). According to my report, I should have access to NBC with my indoor antenna. My home is a 1 story older Florida home (no attic, mostly wood, and lots of windows) and I live straight down the road from the NBC signal location. http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...9900f78b6a581a

I currently get the PBS stations x 3 (5.*) ABC (20.1) W (20.2) and Fox (51.1) I don't seem to get any stations from the west. Is a roof antenna the only option? If so, are there any recommended ones for my situation (hopefully budget ones)?
thanks for any suggestions

Your NBC station real channel 24 will require a UHF rooftop installation.

The simplest way to receive NBC 24 and still receive the other networks is to use an Antennas Direct DB4 UHF antenna aimed to 163 degrees magnetic. If you fail to receive the CBS station to your West, you can remove the reflector grid from the antenna which will convert it to a bi-directional.

Shop for this antenna and choose a mount that fits your home at www.solidsignals.com.

The Tv transmissions are Very Strong at your location , a amplified antenna , will over load from the strong Tv transmissions and be the cause of bad reception or no reception.

I recommend use a plain and simple , non amplified rabbit ears and loop antenna. Radio shack has Plain and Simple NON amplified rabbit ears a indoor type antenna.

http://www.radioshack.com , #15-1874 .

Aim the plain and simple non amplified rabbit ears type at about 273 degree magnetic compass -West.

Here is how to aim indoor type antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

Another direction to aim the plain and simple rabbit ears type antenna is about 325 degree magnetic compass.

The Tv Must Channel Scan for the Digital Broadcast Tv Channels sometimes named the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv setup menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

DO NOT channel scan for the cable tv channels.

Put the plain and simple non amplified rabbit ears type antenna in a window that faces West.

A better indoor type antenna is the TREK HDTVi , Non amplified antenna.

http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.amazon.com.

For a above the roof antenna install a HD7000R antenna aimed at about 325 degree magnetic compass or 273 degree magnetic compass.
Here are some above the roof antenna mounts , http://www.ronard.com/909911.html , http://www.ronard.com/34424560.html , http://www.ronard.com/ychim.html , http://www.ronard.com.

Buy the ronard antenna mounts at solidsignal by typing the word ronard in the solidsignal search box.

Good job @teleview...I used TVF radar and only found real channel 24 for NBC.

I hope that your finding is accurate.

Tv Reception.

I actually take the time to look them up , And I do this constantly. Always looking for the best way for the question asker to receive Tv channels the best way possible.
I go over my past posts looking for any way to make the information more accurate.
And I have been doing this for a long time.

I am also am very thorough....I actually drove to central Fla. and conducted Signal test in Gainsville in Feburary 2011.

I know that locations are different and things change but here are the results I got at that time from the South end of the city with a real good omni-directional antenna 15' off the ground.

Gainsville channels. RF 36, 16, 28, 31

Ocala 26, 17, 49, 22, 43, 46

Jacksonville 7

My conclusion from real signal testing is that rabbit ears are not a great recommendation for that area.
