Antenna Recommendation for Elie, MB Canada

I’m looking for a recommended antenna to pick up my local channels. Here is my report:

http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...e1c6e0715ed87e

The channels (real) I’m looking for are 13, 27, 7, and 40. I bought an el cheapo flat panel antenna from Princess Auto just to see what I can get for lowest effort and I’m able to pickup all the channels reliably, except channel 7. So no real surprise there. I currently have the antenna on the east side of my house pointed roughly at the channel 7 tower.

I am hoping to use a J-Mount attached to the edge of the roof. The roofing material is metal sheet. A consideration for the size of the antenna is I am located in an area that regularly sees high winds. I currently have 2 TVs and plan to attach a 3rd (PVR) at some point.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

The el cheapo antenna I purchased is this one: http://www.princessauto.com/pal/en/O...enna/8418873.p

You will need something that picks up VHF as 14 and below is VHF, vs UHF. I presume your antenna is UHF only, specs are pretty silent. I'll look some more to see if yours is UHF only.

RCA Ant 751, small and easily mounted on the J mount. But I'd like to here what others say in regards to the metal roof. Signals are strong, but multi-path could be an issue. Possible more detail might be needed.

There are some omni's out there too such as from Channel Master - but I have no experience with those.

Hmmm.... if in fact it is really a Phillips ..SDV8622T/27X. Then that should work for VHF as well. It does have amplification of 18db?

Have you tried tweaking how it is pointed?

It is a refurbed Phillips, and it said on the package VHF/UHF and I've tried tweaking the antenna to no avail. I get a very weak signal from Channel 7, but not strong enough to lock onto very often. When I do get a lock it is very glitchy. Unfortunately Ch 7 is the channel I most want to receive.

The other channels (besides 13 - I can actually see the tower from my roof for this channel) have occasional glitches. I bought the Phillips just as a proof of concept and now I'm looking for a more permanent solution.

Thanks for you help thus far!

As always , trees and tree leaves , plants and plant leaves , have a Negative Effect on Broadcast Tv Reception and so do buildings and other obstructions including your own roof and building.

Some and not all Negative Effects are.

Absorbing and Blocking Reception.

Multi-Path Reflecting Tv Signals Bouncing All Around.

The Best Practice for Reliable Reception is to Install the Antennas at a Location that has the Least Amount to No Amount of Obstructions of Any Type or Kind in the Directions of Reception Including Your Own Roof and Building.

Thank you Flint Ridge and tele view for taking time to give me your recommendations. I decided to buy the AntenntaCraft because I could get it to my house for the least amount of money. I installed the antenna last night and now have a very strong signal, including the one VHF channel I was having trouble with. Without both of your inputs I would have purchased a much larger and expensive antenna.

Thanks again, you guys rock!

If at a later date you will like to Test for Fox.

You can use the HBU11K antenna in place of the CS4 antenna.

The HBU11 can be on it's J Mount and the , Y10-7-13 antenna can be on a different antenna mount.

And All rest of the recommendation will be the same for the Test of reception of Fox.
