Amp or ???

This is already on my house. Can I use this by just adding an amp? It is older but already in place. I would like to feed 3 t.v.s I was planning on using A splitter with 3 home runs. Any help would be appreciated. It's 25 or 30 feet off of the ground.

You can probably use one or both of the antennas subject to a closer inspection and identification.

The upper antenna appears to be an older CM 4221. Put a new balun on it and it will likely be fine. The old combo might also be used instead, get a balun for it also. You do not need nor should you install any amplifier, a standard splitter should do fine.


Do some maintenance on the existing antennas and see what ou get one at a time.

I currently have them hooked to one tv and the reception is mediocre at best and is inconsistent.

Install a NEW Matching Transformer (Balun) to each antenna.

To Prove Reception. Install a NEW Continues Length Of Coax to 1 antenna at a time , Do Not connect the 2 antennas on to 1 coax at the same time.

Use New continues length coax that has the Compression type connectors on the ends of the coax , not the old crimp type connectors on the ends of the coax.

Run the New Continues Length of coax through a open window or door direct to 1 Tv.

No splitters , No couplers , No ground block couplers , No etc. .

Aim the antenna at about 270 degree magnetic compass direction.

Use a Real and Actual magnetic compass to aim antenna.

I agree with the above poster. Adding an an amplifier would probably just overload the TV's. Since you live in an area with very strong signals, something must be wrong if you're not getting good reception. There are a few things I can think of:

---Have you made sure the antennas are pointed in the right direction?
---Are you using the upper antenna or the lower one? Test them to see which one gets a better signal.
---Maybe your feedlines are very old and suffering from high loss.
---Have you tried an indoor antenna? You'd probably have to use one for each TV, but you could just use on to test how good your reception is.

Don't forget to clean the terminals w/ a wire brush.
You really have no channels that require the large one, but there's no sense in taking it down, either.
