I need help on antenna selection. Most of the local channels are to the N or NE of Indianapolis. There are a couple to SE at 170 deg that we would like to get. The antenna will be installed in attic and must receive high VHF and UHF signals. The house is a 2-story.

Success depends on the signal conditions in the attic. The Antennacraft HBU-33 comes to mind. If the attic construction causes difficulty with signal quality, the Antennacraft can be refolded and moved outdoors. The HBU-33, like most antennas, favors the forward direction but will receive some signal through the back.

A simple reception situation.

Looking at the tvfool report for the Digital Current Plus Pending Applications Included.

The receivable digital tv channels , and there are Very Many Channels to receive.

Above the roof of the house install a Antennas Direct , Clear Stream 2 Complete UHF/VHF antenna. http://www.antennasdirect.com/store/...VHF-Combo.html.

Aim the CS2 Complete antenna at about 15 degree magnetic compass.

Remove the Reflector Screen from the CS2 Complete antenna.

Now the CS2 Complete antenna will receive the Broadcast Tv stations at the front of the antenna and the back of the antenna.

The Broadcast Tv stations/channels to the north north east and south east south west , in the Green and Yellow reception zones down to at least WNDY-TV 32 MyNetwork will be received.

And that is A Lot of Tv stations/channels.

The Tv/s Must Channel Scan for the broadcast tv Channels sometimes named the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv setup menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

DO NOT channel scan for the cable tv channels.

The best reception will happen when the antenna has elbow room.

Tv antennas receive the best when there is nothing in the way to reduce or block reception.

Trees and tree leaves do a good job of reducing or blocking reception , other buildings do a good job of reducing or blocking reception.

Hills and mountains do a good job of reducing or blocking reception.

Your tvfool radar plot report shows that most of the Tv stations/channels are LOS = Line Of Sight.

Actual Line of sight , is the best type and kind of reception.

Unfortunately, our HOA may not allow a rooftop mounted antenna. I was wanting to install the antenna in the attic. How is the A/D CS2 for this application? How does it compare with the Winegard HD-1080?

There will be (3) TV's in the system. Previously there was a Dish satelite, then it was Uverse. I am switching off Uverse in favor of the antenna. I need to get in the attic to check what equipment is there now. There was some extra hardware installed with the dish that I need to verify that could be used with the antenna system.

Here is the Federal Antenna Law that says Yes you can , Install , Use , Maintain , antennas above the roof and Yes you can install antennas in plain sight to get the best reception.

This a Federal Antenna Law because there people that despise and even hate antennas and never stop trying to make sure that know one has antennas.

Hoa's , housing covennuts , and etc. are well aware of this Federal Antenna Law yet still try to scam people into thinking no antennas.

This Law is in effect since the year 1996 , thats 16 years.

For 3 Tv locations use a Channel Master CM3414 distribution amplifier.

The coax from the antenna will be connected to the input of the CM3414 distribution amplifier and the outputs of the CM3414 will have coax that go out to the Tv locations.

How is the A/D CS2 for this application? How does it compare with the Winegard HD-1080?

Select the VHF-capable version of the C2, not the "regular" C2 that is available at retail stores or at Amazon (and the like) unless you make plans to add the VHF upgrade separately.

Install the HD1080 now. Can always change to the CS2 Complete UHF/VHF antenna later.

Thanks for your help. I will definitely be trying a few things in the near future with ATT raising Uverse prices. I'm getting frustrated with calling them for unknown discounts.
