No Signal; have TV Fool Report - rooftop antenna (C 490)

Hello All,

I just installed an AntennaCraft C 490 on the side(gable) of my house of today. I have it approximately 8 feet above the roof line. From the attached TV FOOL report (thank you), I determined that the best azimuth would be 110 degrees.

I ran the coax into the basement and hooked it into the "in" port on a RCA 10db booster/splitter. I then hooked up the coax from the cable outlet in the bedroom to the "out" from the RCA splitter. I hooked up the TV (non-HD) to the cable wall outlet and did not receive any defined signals...just variations of wavy lines for some channels.

The house is surrounded by trees...the antenna would have to be moved up approximately 30 - 40 more feet if it were to have a chance at clearing the tree line.

Are the trees a problem?

Thanks,
Chris

Suggestions:

As recommended by the TVFool report, please post the link to your report. There is some diagnostic information that is lost otherwise.

Be sure that your TV has an ATSC tuner. If this is an old analog set, then you will see nothing.

Tv Antennas and Reception

Please post the tvfool report , radar plot in the manner that we can work with it , use exact address , enter in the antenna height , suggest 25 feet , http://forum.tvfool.com/showthread.php?t=4. Do not take picture of the radar plot and post that , it's dead and we can't work with it. The default antenna height is 10 feet.

Embedded in the OP's ...Results.doc,

@ treefrog, If your TV has a digital tuner (ATSC) it needs to use the 'air' or 'antenna' mode, not 'cable'. Cable systems generally use a different digital format. Check your user manual for specifications, the abbreviation, ATSC should be listed, as well as setup instructions. If you can't find the manual, many are available for download, simply search using the model number of the TV. If you like, post the model number of your set here.
