antenna and preamp help

One story house and will be putting antenna and preamp in attic. Currently have five TV's hooked up and ok with only getting KSBY. Just wanting it to come in all the time and be able to record shows through converter box.
Looking at the channel master 4228, the DB8 and the Clearstream 4. Not sure on the amp, maybe the cm7777. TV Fool report: http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...1dda7e1214191a

Thank you!

While I usually don't give specific recommendations for our product on this forum, this time I'll make a brief exception.

Can't beat a 91XG/PA18 combination here. Get one TV set to work with no splitters installed, then add either a splitter or a distribution amplifier to distribute the signal if you're successful with the first set.

You've got a 2100' foot peak out in front of a 1600' peak (you're at about 1000' ASL) blocking your signals, so the tilt bracket on the 91XG is going to come in handy to aim the antenna at the skyline.

Before I make a recommendation.

I see that the Signal Strengths are Very Weak.

I see that the provided tvfool radar plot report has no antenna height feet above ground.

Do not delete the tvfool report you have provide.

And to see if signal strengths improve.

Make 4 more tvfool report plots with antenna heights at , 10 , 25 , 40 , 60 , feet above ground.

And like the first provided tvfool report , Use your exact address when making the reports.

I'd like to thank ADTech for demonstrating professionalism and courteousness while supporting AD customer/users. The knowledge and experience shared, benefits all of the members and gusts here.

I have no problem with a 'shameless plug' when the suggestion matches the need.

As an aside, I can only think of one other vendor/rep that has given their time to support TV Fool members, it's sad to see the other big name OTA antenna names remain absent. I'd like to think they care as much for their customers... just haven't seen the evidence.

preamp question

I feel good about the antenna choice but the PA-18 does not have very good reviews on Amazon. I was thinking about the cm7777 but can not find them anymore. It seems that the cm7778 have replaced the old and it does not have great reviews either. Any other recommendations? Or should I just go with the PA-18? Thank you!

The trouble with some of the reviews of technical products such as these, is that not every reviewer is qualified to speak critically about the product. As a result, some reviews are simply attempts to shift the blame... rather than admitting they didn't know what the right choice was, some blame the product.

I've yet to be disappointed by an AD product. That said, the CM-7778 would be a good alternate.

The price difference is $22.00 more for the ch7778. Do you feel that one is any better than the other?

The PA-18 adds less noise to the signal than the CM-7778. I'd prefer the PA-18.
