New to this....DVR,,recording

Just got a small Antenna,,getting about 12 extra Channels.
I have Directv,with dvr,,,,I like to record some movies Off The Air antenna.
What do i need,and How to hookup...Thinking on getting a Better Antenna
once i get this stuff going....Thanks

Either add an AM21 box to your DirecTV box (integrates partial OTA channel guides into the D* guide) or add an external DVR. Basic DVR boxes start around $35 plus your USB hard drive.

Whats a AM21 box..what should i get to record off air ant..how to hookup.
Give me a couple name brands..Like i said,,Im New to this stuff,,lol

I got the AM21 like you said...But dont get the channel i wanted with it hookedup...The channel comes in when i hook antenna stright to tv....Why

2 different tuners, one in the TV gets it, the other doesn't. The signal might be just good enough for the TV tuner, but just below what the tuner in the AM21 wants.
