Help with reception

We tried the RCA ant751 with and without an amplifier. In attic we got nothing. Outside either at ground level or mounted ~ 20' up on side of house, we could get most of the geen channels listed in the report, but not virt channel 4, 7, 13, or 22 consistently. Any suggestions on how to get consistent reception with this or another antenna?

A Simple reception situation.

The Digital Tv stations/channels are Strong Signal Strength at Your Location.

Install the ANT751 antenna , -->Up High<-->Above the Peak of the Roof in such a manner that reception is not blocked by the roof and house in the directions of , north east , north , north west , west.

Aim the ANT751 antenna at about 330 degree magnetic compass direction. Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

As a Test to Prove Reception.

Install a New matching transformer (balun) that connects the antenna to the coax.

Run a loooong length of New Coax from the matching transformer , through a open door or window , Direct to the Tv.

No coax ground block coupler , No splitters , No couplers , No amplifier , No nothing.

Digital Broadcast Tv Tuners can develop - Digital Glitches - that are not cleared out with a simple channel scan.

As always trees and tree leaves do a good job of , multipath/reflecting , absorbing , blocking , Digital Broadcast Tv reception and so do buildings and other obstructions in cluding your own roof and house.

Install the antenna Away From Trees not up close to trees in the directions of reception.

It is best to install the ANT751 at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception including your own roof and house.

The observations re. trees is very relevant. Much of the Bonney Lake area has tall fir, cedar and other similar size trees. I'm in the greater Seattle area also, 120' fir is quite common.

If the ANT-751 is not obstructed by trees it should do quite well. If obstructed, you might find some relief by going to a larger antenna, the Winegard HD7698P would not be overkill if you have no means to get above or around the trees. (The down-side of the larger antennas is that they are so directional that you may find that you don't get to have a single aim point that provides reliable reception of all the available signals.)

On the other hand, if you're in a development with neighboring buildings close in, you'll need to find a way to avoid aiming the antenna into neighboring structures. Roof mounting with a tripod and 10' mast section would be an obvious option. The goal being to get above the roof line of nearby buildings.
