Weatherproofing

Not sure if this is the right section to post this in or not so correct me if it isn't. I'm looking for advice on weatherproofing my outdoor antenna. I have a roof mounted Clearstream C2 (aka 2V) antenna and a Channelmaster 7777 preamp. The 7777 came with some covers for the cables but requires them to be put on before the ends are put on the cables. Is it likely to damage the preamp if I don't put the covers on the cables? The cable that runs from the power injector inside to the preamp is a cable that says it's designed for outdoor installations so is that good enough or should I re-crimp it? (I have only done that about 5-6 times so wouldn't call myself an expert)

No.

I have a name for those boots. I call them "Funnels".

A good compression-type fitting, properly installed, is already water-tight. That's all satellite companies use and they very rarely fail.
