The Friis Equation & TV Fool

Hi
I want a closed form equation to calculate the recieved power from a transmitter 54 miles away on top of a mountain. And I want to do it using an equation. Does the TV fool use the Friis equation or does it use something else? Can anyone give me the equation? Or is there a Matlab model that it uses? I need this for some EE graduate school work that I am doing.

Mike

TVFool (and others) use the Longley Rice Irregular Terrain Model for calculating signal propagation.

See http://www.its.bldrdoc.gov/resources...e/itm/itm.aspx

This software vendor provides a substantial number of references in the description of their implementation: http://www.softwright.com/faq/engine...gley_rice.html
