Researching the possibilities - Antenna Advice Needed

I few weeks back I picked up an open box Mohu Leaf Ultimate just to do some checking at my home - I know it is probably far from ideal, but decent for testing. Seems it has a bad amplifier that Mohu is going to replace under warranty. However, they were impressed that I received any signal with that unit and sent a link to this site and a signal analysis.

As with almost everyone, I would love to cut the cord and save some money by going over the air and internet streaming only. I was impressed with the quality and sound of the few stations I could pick up with the Leaf. If I could get the yellow and the red channels with a roof mount antenna, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't miss the rest.

My analysis can be found here:

Based on that analysis what would be some suggestions? Right now I could mount to an existing vacated DirecTV J mount. However, I could go higher by utilizing a brick exhaust chimney as a support.

If I can effectively utilize antenna reception, I would be running signals to 6 televisions (only four are connected to cable at the moment)

For those curious souls, I received the following real channels with a non amplified Leaf, depending on room and position: 11, 13 (4 sub channels) and 48.

The TV Reception is Very Weak Signal Strength at your location

And has 2 Edge Path obstructions in the , North West direction

The positive situation in your favor is the Tv transmitters are midrange distance and short distance close.

Looking at the Digital Current Plus Pending Applications Included Radar Plot and Channel List , the Digital Broadcast Tv stations/channels in Yellow and on down channel list in to the Red reception zone.
To and including WEMW-CD , REAL UHF Digital Channel 19 , virtual number (56.1) , Independent Network , RTV= Retro Tv Network , LWN= Live Well Network , should be received.

-----

Above the Peak of the Roof in such a manner that reception is not , obstructed , impeded , blocked , buy the roof and building in the directions of reception.

North West.

Install a http://www.channelmasterstore.com , CM4228HD UHF/VHF antenna aimed at about 348 degree magnetic compass direction.

Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

Use a Real and Actual magnetic compass to aim antenna.

--------

Here are some strong and sturdy chimney antenna mounts.

http://www.ronard.com/ychim.html.
Measure around the chimney and use a , ronard(2212) , ronard(2218) , ronard(2224) .

Buy the ronard antenna mounts at , http://www.solidsignal.com , by typing , ronard(x) , in the solidsignal search box , or , buy from , http://www.ronard.com.

---------

Install a , http://www.channelmasterstore.com , CM7777 preamplifier.

---------

Install a , Leviton 6 way splitter. #47690-6 .

The CM7777 , preamp , power injector , power supply , must be install before the Levition 6 way splitter input. The reason is the Levition splitter does not pass the , power supply power , through the splitter.

---------

Here are some places to buy antennas and etc. .

http://www.amazon.com.

http://www.solidsignal.com.

http://www.channelmasterstore.com.

http://www.ronard.com.

---------

As always , trees and tree leaves , plants and plant leaves , have a Negative Effect on Broadcast Tv Reception and so do buildings and other obstruction including your own roof and building.

The Best Practice is to install the , CM4428HD antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the direction/s of reception.

For your reception situation that is , North West.

Thanks Teleview. I'll take a look at everything and see what I can do. I might wait until the weather warms a bit before going up to the roof though.
