Caulking the screws of an eave mount

Hi Everyone,

I have just moved into a new house and would like to mount my 8 bay antenna to the eave of the house with an eave mount kit (CM-9030). As I plan to screw the eave mount kit at the peak of the roof, should I use a basic silicone caulk to seal the screws or are they okay without the caulk?

Thanks!

While you probably don't need to caulk, it might be a good
idea to do so. It is a whole lot easier to remove some caulk
over a screw than trying to unloosen a rusted one............
Be sure to ground your system. It not only protects from
nearby lightning but also can improve reception.

You can also try Coax Seal linked above. I believe you can also find it at some electronics stores and if memory serves me, I think the company that manufactures it has a website.

I have found it easy to use and remove, but I've seen a comment or two in the past on the Net from those who didn't seem to like it. But I would recommend it.

All the best!

A tripod mount penetrates the roof, but an eave mount doesn't penetrate the roof:
