Antenna Upgrade - Lexington, KY

I am trying to help my sister improve OTA reception in Lexington, KY. Signal analysis is here. She is currently using this antenna with okay results. She is reluctant to install anything in the attic so I am wondering if another type of antenna or an amplifier might help with reception. ABC/CBS/FOX/NBC all come in but the FOX signal is rather weak and she is looking for better signal consistency. Any suggestions? Thanks!

The Phillips indoor antenna , Is A Amplified Antenna.

Adding Another Amplifier Will Make Reception Worse.

-----------

For Improved Reception place the Phillips indoor antenna in/at a East facing window.

Aim the Phillips indoor type Tv antenna at about 100 degree magnetic compass direction.

Here is how to aim indoor and outdoor antennas.

http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

As always aim of the indoor type antenna in/at the East facing window can be adjusted for best reception.

-----------

If a long coax is required to connect the Phillips indoor type antenna in/at the East facing window to the Tv , and the long coax is run through the building to connect the Phillips indoor type antenna to the Tv.

-->Then so be it.<--

The reason is.

Reliable Reception is More Important then objections to coax running through the inside of the building.

-----------

Also the Phillips indoor type antenna has adjustable amplifier gain controls.

Turning the amplifier gain down , less amplifier gain.

Will most likely improve the reception.

The reason is the local Tv stations reception is Strong Signal Strength at the reception location and the the amplifier in the antenna can be over loaded and a over loaded amplifier will make reception worse.

-----------

For better reception , I recommend a.

HBU11K antenna.

A antenna system amplifier is not required.

Aim the , HBU11K antenna at about 100 degree magnetic compass direction.

Here is how to aim antennas.

http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

Use a Real and Actual magnetic compass to aim HBU11K antenna , do not trust a , cell phone , tablet and etc. compass.

As always , the antenna aim can be adjusted and the antenna location can be adjusted for best reception.

Most Digital Tv's haves a Signal Strength Meter and some Digital Tv's also have a Signal Quality Meter.

Installed above the Peak of the Roof in such a manner that reception the Tv stations to the , North East , East , South East , are not , obstructed , impeded , blocked , by the , attic , roof , building , in the directions of , North East , East , South East.

-----------

Also Know this.

Trees and tree leaves , plants and plant leaves , have a Negative Effect on Broadcast Tv Reception and so do buildings and other obstructions including your own , attic , roof , building.

Some and not all Negative Effects are.

Absorbing and Blocking Reception.

Multi-Path Reflecting Tv Signals Bouncing All Around.

The Best Practice for Reliable Reception is to install a Tv antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception including your own , attic , roof , building.

-------------

Also know this.

No matter where the antenna is located.

Digital Tuners can develop - Digital Glitches - that are not cleared out with simple channel scans.

To clear tuner do , Double Rescan.
