Indoor Antenna - Grand Rapids, MI

Hello all,

I would love a little advice on whether or not you believe an indoor antenna will work in my situation. I live in an apartment, therefore outdoor antennas are not an option.

Here is a brief rundown of the situation. I live on the top floor of a four story apartment building. The building in made out of brick, and I am on the north side of the building, but the building is not huge (ie. it's only two apartments thick, meaning, I'm technically on the north side of the building, but the apartment next to me is technically on the south side). I do not have a window that faces south. Also, there is another brick-style building of approximately the same height as my building to the south of me. The broadcast antennas that (I believe) I want to pick up are all to the south-southeast of me.

I only care about the major channels; NBC, ABC, FOX, and CBS. PBS would be a plus, but I really don't care that much. I just want to be able to watch news and big sporting events.

Please let me know if you think an indoor antenna would be viable, and if so, which one you might try. Here is the link to my report: http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...2c154eebcf2a7f

I would give it a try...

But you are correct, signal penetration may be poor due to the structure you're in.

I would try an inexpensive rabbit ear style, or the Terk HDTVi (not the HDTVa).

Examples:

Or, if you can find a place for it in your space, an RCA ANT-751R (a small outdoor antenna).

If the well is dry and you don't see rain on the horizon, you'll need to dig the hole deeper. (If the antenna can't get the job done, an amp won't fix it.)
