help with antenna choice

Hi, I'm wanting to cut the satellite out, but would like expert advice on choosing an antenna to receive the maximum channels for my location.
I would like to stay around the 50.00 range (thinking about RCA751).
I can get it either in the attic, or on the roof, using an old dish mount.
If you think there is say, a much better antenna that I would be able to receive more channels, I could up the budget some.

Thanks in advance !
