New at posting here, not new at radio. For starters, I've got a Channelmaster CM-2020 ant with CM-7777HD preamp at 20 feet, running through less than 100' feet new, decent coax. I'm trying to receive WXEL (RF CH 27 at my location on the N shore of Lake Okeechobee, FL. It rarely comes in, usually at night. Please see below link, then the link within to WXEL file. I can receive VHF HI and UHF stations at similar distance running lower power, thus am puzzled why WXEL is such a hard catch. FL is a relatively flat state, so I don't think terrain should be an issue.
