help with refraction

can some one point me to a website that explains how to maximize the refraction (i hope im saying this right) from the hills between me and the mt wilson towers

I'm not sure that there is such a web site, but try this:

To me it looks like the UHF stations from Mt. Wilson are too weak. The VHF stations are marginal. From your house the ridge toward Mt. Wilson is about 3000 ft away and 450' higher. You want the main beam of your antenna to aim that high. I would not tilt a VHF antenna up, but find the optimum antenna height to cause the main beam to elevate up the ridge. The close spaced houses in your development will make that a trial and error proposition.

Tv Antennas and Reception

This person has previous posts. To improve the reception of refraction , point the antenna up at the tops of the hills/mountains. Refraction does not bend over the obstruction evenly from one station Tv channel or another station Tv channels. And is true for both VHF and UHF. Before tilting the antenna up , try moving the antenna up and down.
