Best HDTV antenna

My Friends: I live in Toronto about 100 miles west of Rochester. I live in a highrise on the 9th floor. I see many HDTV antennae on the Net which claim reception of 150 miles and more. I don't know which are gimmicks and which are true. Please advise me which is the the best one for me. Thank you.

The 150 mile claims are too good to be true in all but the most extreme situations. Perhaps if one was situated in top of a a very tall mountain... But then there would be many other antennas that are higher in quality, performance and lower in price.

To be able to suggest an antenna that is appropriate for your conditions we need to see your TV Fool report. Please review these guides:

Being on the 9th floor is good, that gives you nearly 100' of elevation.

However, what maybe more important is which direction you have windows facing. If your building is steel and concrete and your only windows face opposite the direction of your desired signals, then you can easily find yourself out of luck unless you can catch a lucky reflection off some other nearby structure.
