I can't tell how much OTA TV is worth to you, but I can speculate that you are within reach of lots of Chicago TV stations. For most people, getting OTA TV is a one-time investment of a few hundred dollars that lasts for a very long time (~10 to 20 years is common). Most people would say that the overall value of this investment is much better than what you get with cable, satellite, or IP TV services and their high monthly bills (~$600 to$1500 every year).
In order to tell how many channels are within reach and how much of an antenna you'll need, we need to see a tvfool analysis of your exact location. The tools here can calculate how strong the TV signals will be at your house, and that will determine how many and how much effort is required to pick up those signals.
Just doing a generic analysis for the middle of Round Lake Beach, IL, I would say that your prospects look good, but an exact analysis of your location will really let us know for sure.
