well, the 75ohm side shows infinite and it occurs to me that of course the other end would be 0 cause its a loop.

so its either corrosion on the 300ohm side of the balun, or I have multipath issues.

I have radiant barrier in the attic.

Hook it up this way , by pass Every-Thing and I mean Every - Thing. Connect a Known to be good coax from the antenna DIRECTLY from the antenna DIRECTLY to the tuner. By pass the amplifier the splitters all the other coax. When I say antenna , coax , tuner I mean antenna , coax , tuner. And do not assume the tuner is any good.

yes, that's exactly what I do, antenna, coax, tuner on laptop.

I'm going to make a homemade bowtie and if it gets better reception, then I know its in the balun on the 91xg

Is there such a thing as a cheap signal meter?

WBIQ dropped back to 10 real after the deadline. I don't know why.

Why not consult a first source, the FCC? WBIQ is currently on 10, but will be moving to 39.

			thanks,
actually I saw that but they don't have a turn on date, so I wasn't sure.
also, my 42 will be turning on a translator close by, so I'll get all the networks I want.

thanks for the confirmation though.

I tried a small 4bay today and only pulled local stations, so I guess I'm just in a hole and the 91xg is doing all it can. when the snow/ice melts off my roof, I'm going to walk the antenna and also try a location 6 feet from the house on a pole to see if my attic foil is causing part of the problem.

THANK YOU EVERYONE for the input!!

Getting the right status of stations is a tricky business using the downloadable versions of the FCC's database. This site does an admirable job trying to keep things straight, but there will be glitches.

For your stations off to the NE, it's more of having elevated terrain about halfway between transmitter and you. As such, you're below the radio horizon for these stations and have to live with whatever scatters over. To see particulars, click on any station in the list to see the elevation profile of the path. The station is on the left end and you're on the right end.

One more note: WBIQ's analog channel was 10 and their interim DTV channel was 53. Since 53 was beyond the future TV spectrum (currently ends with 51), WBIQ had the choice of reusing equpiment for operating on 10 or building yet another facility for another channel. Looks like they tried to make a go of it on 10.

I'd like to find the engineer/station manager who thought they could replicate a 316 kW analog VHF-10 with a 3 kW digital VHF-10.

Someone needs a "dope-slap"....

 Interesting case.

At first the FCC dismissed their channel 10 election. Next WBIQ opted to reduce power to 3 KW to protect WJSU on channel 9.
