time to upgrade my antenna?

So here is my current setup
antennas direct db8
rca uhf/vhf combiner
antenna craft yagi vhf antenna
amplifier

Antenna is between 35-45 feet off the ground. There is a decent run of coax from the combiner at least 50 feet if not closer to 70.

Now the dilemma, I get the channels to the southeast fine but the channels drop out at various times for no reason. Would the DB8e help in getting a solid signal on the uhf channels to the southeast?

Are you losing both VHF and UHF?

Which stations specifically are you losing first?

Please provide more info on your amp. This might be an odd case where an amp upgrade to low-noise might be helpful.

Have you checked your aim if it has been some time since it was installed? 149 - 162 but I would be leaning a bit to 162 if those were desirable. 157 degrees or so. Presuming 25 is not worth sacrificing others.

You have a lot of co-channel issues as well.

my drops are mostly with 15.1 and 39.1 and I agree it wouldnt hurt to re-check my aim. My preamp is an Antennas Direct CPA19.

set up is below:

How does 51.1 do then? It is just a tad stronger from the same angle.

Do you get or have problems with 28.1 or 57.1?

As far as I know, RCA never made a combiner for UHF and VHF antennas (aka UVSJ). If you are using a common splitter, then replace it with the correct device.

Its actually a radio shack uhf/vhf combiner not an rca. mistake on my part.

As for 51.1 its a tad better than 39.1 and 15.1. Its tough to make the comparison since 15.1 is PBS and 39.1 is NBC which are 2 channels we watch a lot of where as 51.1 is an independent local and watch a minimal amount of.

As you can imagine its a tad frustrating since I know Im far from the transmitters but geez Im 40 feet off the ground.

ADTech makes a great point, were you also amping the VHF side? OR do you just get 8 & 10? Would need a UVSJ that feeds power through on the UHF side as "most" do, but not all. You could gain some by that change alone if it is a splitter.

Correction, slow typing on my part. It is a UVSJ... nothing to worry with there.
