OTA antenna installation

Hi,

I'm a novice when it comes to installing outdoor antennas, and I would appreciate any input. Here's my report: http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...9fbe6ef01dd938

I was planning on using the Winegard HD-1080 2-Bay Bowtie UHF and High Band VHF TV Antenna (HD-1080), and I'm not sure if I should get a preamp as well. I have a two story house with some mature trees around, and I think I'll need about 75' of cable to get from the highest point to the living room wall.

I feel the best compact antenna choices for your situation would be either the ANT-751 or the Winegard 7694. Either of these models should easily power 1 TV with 75 feet of cable without the need for amplification. I'm afraid the HD-1080 may not have enough gain to provide reliable reception on your 2 VHF channels. Hopefully others will chime in with other suggestions.

Others here are also best at suggesting possible mounting scenarios, so I will leave that to them.

Two things:

1) Rerun your TVFool report for the height you are planning to use. Many of the stations that are listed as "1-edge" will likely be line-of-sight and much stronger. Do not get an amp - it will likely be overloaded.

2) I realize that the HD-1080 is advertised to work with high-VHF channels. However, Winegard's own spec sheet shows that it has negative gain in that band. I second the recommendations in the previous post.
