New York and Hartford markets corrections/updates

			Corrections to the database:

WFSB-TV analog 3, Hartford CT, is no longer on the air but is still in the TV Fool database.

WXTV digital 40, virtual channel is 41.1 (missing from database)

WKOB-LD digital 2, virtual is 42.1

WASA-LD digital 25, virtual is 24.1 (not 64.1 which was its old analog channel)

There is a new digital LPTV on ch 23 licensed to Edison NJ, transmitter in Manhattan NY, WDVB-LD, virtual 23.1

W41DO-D digital 41 is now on air, virtual is 60.1, replaces the old analog W60AI, HSN and HSN2 affiliate.
- Note this is the second digital LP station on 41 in the New York market. The other one is WNJJ-LD Paterson NJ, which I last saw using virtual channel 41.1, which conflicts (in some TV tuners) with WXTV 41.1.

Does anyone have any info re WKOB transmitting test patterns on 42.1, et seq, and when it will go live? Is it still broadcasting low band VHF on 2? Thanks, David

Thanks, David | According to RabbitEars.info and Wikiepedia.com , WKOB is a Class D digital broadcast station that broadcasts programming on four subchannels: Wikipedia.comRF2.1 (Virtual 42-1) 24-7RF2.2 (Virtual 42-2) DaystarRF2.3 (Virtual 42-3) HOT TVRF2.4 (Virtual 42-4) WizeBuy (infomercials)
lists two additional subchannels: RF2.5 (Virtual 42-5) EBR Test Pattern (No Audio)RF2.6 (Virtual 42-6) EBR Test Pattern (No Audio)
It appears that the answer to your question is: "Yes. WKOB is still broadcasting low-band VHF on 2." If Wikipedia is correct, then you are receiving only part of the signal being broadcast by the station. Rescan your AIR or ANTENNA channels to ensure that you receive them all.

Thanks, so if I am reading you correctly, I def need a VHF ant to receive these signals. Unless I am missing something, the dedicated VHF antennae seem on the large side and this is likely the only additional channel I will receive by adding the VHF to my config.
Also, is it likely that WKOB will be broadcasting UHF soon enough?

 Thanks again.

 Best,
 David

The reason WKOB is broadcasting on 2 is there is no room for it anywhere else.

WKOB subchannels as of Apr 25 2012

As of 10 PM ET on 4/25/2012, WKOB is defintelty still on RF channel 2. Its subchannels:
42-1 Telos (inspirational talk show seen)
42-2 Daystar (although labeled Daystar, there is only a color bar test pattern)
 42-3 HOT (old TV shows)
 42-4 WizeBuy (infomercials)
 42-5 WKOB-LD (color bars)
 42-6 WKOB-LD (color bars)

WKOB-LD does have a construction permit for operation on RF channel 42 with 1 kW ERP at 265.5 meters above ground. Assuming this CP is built, the channel 2 operation will eventualy go off the air.

More NY and Hartford market fixes

WEDH, RF 45, Hartford, is virtual 24.1
WCCT, RF 20, Waterbury, is virtual 20.1

WFSB, RF 33, Hartford, is virtual 3.1

WFTY, RF 23, Smithtown, NY, is virtual 67.1

WEDW, RF 49, Bridgeport, CT, is virtual 49.1

WEDY, RF 41, New Haven, is virtual 65.1

WEDW, RF 9, Norwich, CT, is virtual 53.1

In Trenton, NJ, TV Fool and the FCC both list 2 stations, apparently on the same tower (same distance and bearing from here). Both are on RF channel 43, which can't be true: WNJT-DT (virtual 52.1) and W43CH (virtual 43.1). Here in Manhattan, WNJT can easily be received if you're high enough up. Both are owned by the NJ Public Broadcasting Authority. Presumably they shut off W43CH once WNJT went digital on RF 43 (whenever that was). I guess either the owner or the FCC forgot to delete it.
