I got a antenna direct clolorstream 4 . One 25 ft run and a 100 ft run. I have It in the attic north east side of the house, facing ESE . Getting 40 some channels on the short run and about 32 on the 100ft run. I would like to be able to 9.1 which is cbc . Also I would like to plug in to my Audio receiver and use it for fm. My walls are thick brick with 2 inch foam board. I'm built on a slab and into a hill. makes running coaxial fun.

The CS4 is a real fine UHF channels 14 thru 51 antenna , however not good receiver of the VHF high band channels 7 thru 13.

For reception of the weak signal strength channel 9 CBC Tv transmission and other VHF high band tv transmissions at your location , install a , www.antennacraft.net , Y10713 VHF high band channels 7 thru 13 antenna.

Connect the CS4 antenna and Y10713 antenna together with a , EU385CF , UHF/VHF diplexer combiner.

Aim the Y10713 antenna at about 141 degree magnetic compass direction.

Use a Real and Actual magnetic compass to aim antenna.

Seperate the CS4 and Y10713 antennas buy about 3 feet on the same mast , put the CS4 above the Y10713 .

Test reception Without a antenna system amplifier.

And can also Test reception with a Winegard , LNA-200 'Boost' XT antenna system amplifier.

If you can , install all parts of the amplifier , power supply , power injector , preamplifier , before the splitter.

If not , then use a power passing splitter.
Such as and not limited to the , Holland Electronics , HFS-2D , 2 way splitter.

For reception of the CBC , the Y10713 antenna will be installed Above the Peak of the Roof in such a mannner that reception is not , obstructed , impeded , blocked , by the roof and building in the directions of reception.

And Yes the CS4 is up above the roof with the Y10713 antenna.

For FM Radio and Now FM Digital Radio Reception.

I recommend install a Separate FM antenna that is not connected to the Tv antenna and Tv antenna system coaxes.

The FM system will have it's own coax.

For local reception , a www.antennacraft.net , FMSS antenna is a good choice.

For long distance FM reception with the antenna aimed at the weak signal strength FM station , a , www.antennacraft.net , FM6 , is a good antenna.

For best reception the FM antenna is installed Up High , free of obstructions.

The Y10713 is a great option when chasing down H-VHF signals (real CH-7 through CH-13).

If the need for amplification is proven, beware of the potential for overloading due to strong local signals. I've had to resort to using a CM-3410 in applications that look quite similar to the conditions shown in your report. The CM-3410 is a distribution amplifier with a high tolerance to overload but it would need to be protected from the weather. perhaps mounting the amplifier under an eve would be adequate protection. VHF signals will travel through coax about twice the distance that UHF signals will for a given amount of loss. That may allow you to locate a CM-3410 further further from the antenna with out loosing much noise margin. Again, giving you the option of mounting under the protection of an eve perhaps.

Thanks guys, I didn't even think about vhf when getting my ant. I'm going to hold off on my fm for now till I get the tv fixed. I figured I'd have to run a separate ant for fm. What do you guys think about a all in one UHF/Vhf like antenna direct C5 or C2-V-CJM. I know out above the roof is the way to go. But I'm in a rental and really did want to put holes in the roof. Already having issues with leaks in the house dont want the blame passed on to me. I just did a 30ft rise for a family cabin up north came out pretty good. If I need to do 2 differnet antennas what do you think about the Rca ANT751.

Is the Y10713 with the c4 my only shot at getting those channels? Or in your opinion one of the antenna direct all in one uhf/vhf ones work, if I go above the roof line?

Adding the C2's VHF kit to the C4 usually helps a lot, but it isn't a substitute for a full-size, directional VHF antenna. You can give it a try, it's inexpensive and easy to use on a C4 (just swap out one of the reflectors and re-do the cables) and does surprisingly well in a lot of situations.. The upgrade kit is on our website under Accessories > Reflectors.

It's my observation that the VHF element does pretty well on FM for short to medium range usage. One of these days, I plan on doing some field testing to quantify what it's FM performance actually measures.

CBET however, will, more likely than not, require a dedicated high-VHF antenna such as the CleaarStream 5 or the 10-element Winegard or AntennaCraft.

teleview, the cabin we used the 8 bay antenna direct and some other antenna that looks like that with the whiskers 30ft up with a amp and a combiner. We got in all 8 channels that we could. The cabin is right in the middle of Michigan with allot of oaks and pines around it. Its the best its been scene the switch to digital. I do think this summer we are going to switch the unknown antenna over to one like you recommended a Y10713 . The vhf does go out at times during the day.

Adtech I ordered a C5 yesterday and should have it by Tuesday. I've had great luck and feed back from Antenna Direct and that why I like using them. I work for Best Buy ( I install car audio) But the Home Audio guys come to me with questions about the antennas all the time. Which does not say much cause I have little if any knowledge on this subject, but i do take the time to pull a report and try to figure it out for them. Luckily most people in my area live with in 10 miles of most the towers and are just trying to get fox,cbs,abc. The c4 was new to use and I didn't even till on tv fool it was not good for vhf. Will the C5 do both uhf and vhf or should I run both. ON THE ROOF. I'm going for it I'll deal with the landlord when the time comes.

The C5 should do fine on the close-in UHF stuff, perhaps out to 30-45 miles or so. If your UHF requirements include weaker signals, then the more directional UHF-only antenna is usually paired with the high-VHF antenna using the combiner included with the C5.
