Help with OTA in Sudbury, ON

Hey there everybody... I am very new to this and am posting with the hope that I may get some good news... that being said, from what I understand we are still Analog up here so HDTV free OTA may not be in the cards for me just yet.

Here is the report, which resembles heiroglyphics to me.

I'd appreciate it if somebody might help break down my situation for me...

-can I get HDTV via an antenna?
-what channels can I hope to get, if any?
-what antenna would be best?
-can I install inside or in my attic, or should I install it on my roof?

I intend on tracking down a Boxee "live tv" adapter for my D-Link Boxee box, and using that with the antenna. I've heard that if I drop down to the most basic of cable offerings that I can use that as well... but really, I want to do away with cable altogether. Hopefully I can. Any help is appreciated!

If you only care about is the top 7 on the list. Use a Winegard 7015 all channel antenna on the roof at a location with a clear view to the stations at 250 degrees magnetic. If and when these channels go DTV you will still be good to go.

I'm not sure if I only care about the "top 7" on the list... My thinking is that I'd like as many channels as possible. Really, the cost of these antennas are not terribly prohibitive, so I am open to a roof-mounted and amplified antenna if it will actually gain me some channels.

I was under the impression that all channels must be digitial, as of 2011 or whenever it was that analog was dropped. I'm obviously just confused about something, though, as you've confirmed that these channels are not yet DTV.

So with an antenna (any antenna) I will not be able to receive HD quality at the moment, correct?

I'm just curious as to what channels I can expect to receive, and what quality they'd be received in... "future proof" is definitely something I'd want, too, so (like you said) if/when they go DTV I'll be able to enjoy that upgrade.

Yes I agree , I always do my best to get as many Tv stations/channels that are reliable and as reasonably possible.

The default antenna height is very low to the ground.

To see if any more Analog or even Digital Tv Channels show up.

Please provide tvfool radar plot reports with exact address and the antenna heights at 25 , 40 and 60 feet.

And yes there are still Analog , low power and translator/repeater Tv stations here in the USA.

The Full Power Tv stations in the USA went Digital in June of 2009.

The way it looks to me is that even if you used the largest antenna Winegard has to offer ( 8200U) and an amplifier, you would only add the next three channels with duplicates of SRC,CBC, and TVO. There are not even any pending applications that would give me any incentive to recommend large amplified, expensive equipment.

There are others on this forum who know more about the Canadian stations than I do. I can only tell you what I see. If there is hope for more, they will chime in.

Going higher does not receive any more analog or digital channels.

I recommend a Heavy Duty Long Lasting Winegard HD7082P antenna mounted above the roof aimed at about 240 degree magnetic compass direction.

Some common roof type antenna mounts are , tripod mount , chimney mount , eave mount.

The HD7082P antenna will supply signal to 4 Tv's.

For one Tv connection use no splitter.

For 2 Tv's connected use a 2 way splitter.

For 3 Tv's connected use a 3 way splitter.

For 4 Tv's connected use a 4 way splitter.

I agree even though the 7082 won't find more channels it is better built.
