Another antenna recommendation request

Hi everyone,

Just found TVFool a couple of days ago, and what a great resource it is! I'm looking to cut the cord, and looking for an antenna recommendation.

Hoping to be able to do an attic mount to appease the boss who is already skeptical. Roof is asphalt shingles over wood frame and deck. Here are my results http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...0b869a458ef592

I'm in a bit of a valley which concerns me some. Any special considerations?

Thanks,
Mark

Oops, had antenna height at 10 feet. 18 feet is more like it... http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...0b8648368ab722

Also should say my main interest is in the channels at ~209-213 degrees. But it would be cool to try something like a DB2e and receive those channels in the back lobe with the antenna pointed towards the channels at magnetic north. That may be a pipedream though.

Tv antennas and Tv reception

Your reception location is very good. Install a Winegard Hd7696P antenna above above the roof and receive Many Digital Channels , 25 channels and more. Aim the antenna at about 228 degree magnetic compass. Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html. The antenna will supply signal to one or two Tv's. How many Tv's are/will be connected. Here are some antenna mounts , http://www.ronard.com/909911.html , http://www.ronard.com/34424560.html , http://www.ronard.com/ychim.html , http://www.ronard.com. Here are places to buy antennas and etc. , http://www.winegarddirect.com , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.amazon.com. Buy the ronard mounts by typing the word , ronard , in the solidsignal search box or buy from ronard.

The Tv must scan for the Digital Broadcast Tv Channels , sometimes called the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels'. . Do Not scan for cable tv channels. If you will like to receive several crystal clear digital channels while waiting for the outside antenna and etc. to arrive. If you have a simple indoor antenna like this , http://www.radioshack.com , Budget Tv Antenna # 15-1874 . Here is how to aim a rods and loop indoor antenna , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html. . If you have trees in full leaf in the direction 228 degree magnetic compass the signal will be reduced. If the house is wood frame with wood or vinyl siding , that is the best for reception with indoor antennas. Metal siding , stucko with stucko Wire , concrete , concrete blocks , bricks from ground to roof , solar panels , will reduce reception.

The HD7696P antenna will receive some stations through the back side of the antenna. The , > , shaped UHF reflectors of the HD7696P antenna can be removed for a little better UHF reception through the back side of the antenna. However removing the reflectors reduces the forward gain of the antenna. . If you will like to experment and do it different then install a Antennas Direct DB4e or Antenna Craft U8000 aimed at about 228 degree magnetic compass. Try the the reception with the reflector screen on and off of the DB4e. And try the reception with the reflector rods on and off of the U8000. To remove the reflector rods from the U8000 , drill out the rivets that hold the metal clips that hold the reflector rods in place. To put the rods back on use bolts and nuts.

If you will like to pull out All the stops and get the most digital Tv stations/channels possible. Install 2 HD7698P antennas , one aimed to the north west at about 360 degree magnetic compass and one aimed south west at about 228 degree magnetic compass. The two antennas will have two separate coaxes (one for each antenna) all the way to Tv where the two separate coaxes will connect to the inputs of a Radio Shack # 15-1968 remote control A/B antenna switch and the output of the A/B switch connects to the Tv.

The way to get the bosses approval is to first get reception of the many digital Tv channels to the south west with a HD7696P antenna or the bigger HD7698P antenna. If our house were next door to yours (my wife is very receptive to getting free Tv channels) and she has great pride of the Tv antenna that we have. I would install a HD7698P antenna. The HD7698P is to drag up the real weak ones way down into red reception zone of the radar map. . The HD7696P antenna will receive Many digital Tv channels in the green and yellow reception zones.
