Antenna Recommendation Vaughan - ON

Looking to cut the cable and have been researching antennas but honestly I am lost. Can anyone recommend which antenna would be optimal for my area. antenna will be mounted south side of our house on the wall.

Greetings powp,

You have a nice report. Toronto is easy. A portion of Buffalo's signals are also possible for you.

With the signals available, you have a mix of high-VHF (real channels 7-13) and UHF (channels 14 and above). Thus, you need an antenna that supports both bands.

I would install a Antennacraft HBU33 antenna. http://www.solidsignal.com/pview.asp...ntenna-(hbu33) Mount to magnetic heading 152 or so. I would expect to see all of Toronto and much of Buffalo except for NBC and a few lower power stations.

Make sure you test location on roof with least amount of obstructions to magnetic 152.

How many TV's do you plan to feed?

Cheers.

Looking at the , Digital Current Plus Pending Applications Included Channel List and Radar Plot.

If the HBU33 does not receive the Weak Signal Strength , WNYO-TV , UHF channel 49 , MyNetwork , and you will like to reach out for it.

Then install a Antennas Direct , DB8e antenna , aimed at about 151 degree magnetic compass direction.

-------

Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

Use a Real and Actual magnetic compass to aim antenna.

-------

The DB8e antenna will be required to be install Above The Peak of the Roof in such a manner that the roof and building are not , obstructing , impeding , blocking , reception in the directions of , South East , South , South West.

-------

Install a , RCA TVPRAMP1R , preamplifier.

Operate the RCA preamp in the single antenna mode.

With only the DB8e antenna connected.

And have the FM radio trap switch , switched in/on.

-------

If the HBU33 antenna is not receiving the Weak Signal Strength , CKCO-DT , Vhf high band channel 13 , CTV One.

And you will like to reach out to receive it.

The also above the roof install a , http://www.antennacraft.net.

Y10-7-13 VHF high band channels 7 thru 13 antenna , aimed at about 251 degree magnetic compass direction.

------

Install the Y10-7-13 antenna below the DB8e antenna and have the antenna about 3 feet apart on the same antenna mast.

------

The RCA preamp will be operated in the separate antennas connected mode.

The DB8e antenna will be connected to the UHF connection of the RCA preamp.

The Y10-7-13 antenna will be connected to the VHF connection of the RCA preamp.

For 1 Tv connected use No splitter.

For 2 Tv's connected use a , Holland Electronics , HFS-2D , 2 way splitter.

For 3 Tv's connected use a , Holland Electronics , HFS-3D , 3 way splitter.

------

As always , trees and tree leaves , plants and plant leaves , have a Negative Effect on Broadcast Tv Reception and so do buildings and other obstructions in the directions of reception.

Some and not all Negative Effects are.

Absorbing and Blocking Reception.

The Best Practice for Reliable Reception is to install the antennas at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception including your own roof and building.

The directions of reception are , South East , South , South West , and North.
