Need help in Georgia

Looking to dump satellite television in rural GA..... Which antenna and setup is recommended to reach the most HD channels in my area? Total newbie so keeping it simple is mandatory, but here is my TV Fool report:

A Simple reception situation.

Most of the stronger easier to receive Digital Tv stations transmissions are the Greenville area.

Here are the Digital Tv stations/channels that should be received.

WHNS REAL UHF Digital channel 21 , virtual number (21.1) Fox.

WUGA-TV REAL UHF Digital channel 24 , virtual number (x) PBS.

WMYA-DT REAL UHF Digital channel 14 , virtual number (4.1-2) MyNetwork and The Country Network.

WYFF-DT REAL UHF Digital channel 36 , virtual number (4.1-2) NBC and This Tv.

W11DD-D REL VHF Digital channel 11 , virtual number (x) PBS.

WNTV REAL VHF Digital channel 09 , virtual number (29.1) PBS.

WGGS-TV REAL UHF Digital channel 16 , virtual number (16.1) Religion.

WYCW-DT REAL UHF Digital channel 45 , virtual number (62.1) The CW and CBS.

WSPA-TV REAL VHF Digital channel 07 , virtual number (7.1-2) CBS and Me-Tv.

WNEH-DT REAL UHF Digital channel 18 , virtual number (38.1) PBS.

WLOS REAL VHF Digital channel 13 , virtual number (13.1-2) ABC and MyNetwork.

Above the roof in such a manner the reception is not blocked buy the roof or house in the directions of , north , north east , east , west , install a Winegard HD7696P antenna with a Antennas Direct CPA-19 preamp aimed at about 36 degree magnetic compass direction.

As always , the starting aim direction of the antenna is the --> starting aim direction of the antenna.

The antenna can be , turned , moved up and down or relocated , to find the best reception.

Most Digital Tv's have a signal strength meter and some Digital Tv's also have a signal quality meter.

As always trees and tree leaves do a real fine job of reducing or blocking Digital Tv reception and so do buildings and other obstructions including your own house.

It is best to install a antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception including your own house.

The Tv/s Must Channel Scan for the Broadcast Tv Channels , often named the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv setup menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.

During the set up and testing phase.

Have only 1 Tv connected.

By Pass all Satellite Connection Hardware such as , diplexers , splitters , couplers , power supplies , power injectors , amplifiers and etc. .

Yes it is Ok to use the coax that is in or on the house to get the antenna signal from point A to point B.

If discontinuing pay satellite service now , remove all of the satellite connection hardware.

And use what is recommended for the broadcast Tv antenna system.

Yes it is Ok to use the coaxes that are in or on the house to distribute the broadcast Tv antenna reception.

Spouse wants a Georgia channel if possible.....will the 7696P do the job, or will we need something stronger? We are never informed about Georgia politics, etc because all our news comes from SC!

WUGA-TV and W11DD-D are both the same Georgia PBS , GPB Georgia Public Broadcasting and will be received by the HD7696P antenna and CPA-19 preamp aimed at Greenville.

(And Yes , a antenna aimed at the Atlanta area digital Tv stations will also receive the Georgia PBS stations/channels.)

The rest of the Georgia Digital Broadcast Tv stations/channels are weak signal strength.

And the tvfool channel list shows that the Georgia Digital Tv stations/channels have , adjacent channel and co-channel interference issues.

To receive more Georgia Digital Tv stations (other then PBS) , as a Test of reception , turn the HD7696P antenna and CPA-19 preamp to about 255 degree magnetic compass direction.

These Georgia Digital Tv stations/channels should be received.

WSB-TV REAL UHF channel 31 , virtual number (x) ABC and Me-Tv.

WXIA-DT REAL VHF channel 10 , virtual number (11.1) NBC and Local Weather.

WGCL-DT REAL UHF channel 19 , virtual number (46.1) CBS.

And possibly more Georgia Digital Tv stations/channels.

With the HD7696P antenna and CPA-19 preamp aimed at about 255 degree magnetic compass , Scan for Tv channels.

Digital Tv tuners can develop - Digital Glitches - sometimes a Double Channel scan is required.

If some Georgia Digital Tv stations/channels are received - then - turn the HD7696P antenna and CPA-19 preamp to the Greenville stations and install a Winegard HD7698P antenna with a CPA-19 preamp aimed at the Atlanta area stations at about 255 degree magnetic compass direction.

The 2 antenna systems Will Not be connected together on to one coax.

Separate the 2 antennas by about 3 feet on the same mast.

The 2 antenna systems , preamps , splitters and etc. will be Separate All the way to the location/s of the Tv/s and be connected to a Remote control A/B antenna switch at each Tv location.

A/B antenna switching is Channel Surfing Friendly , Press the button on the hand held remote control , change antennas , and keep on Channel Surfing.

Putting one antenna on a Tv antenna rotator Is Not channel surfing friendly.

Must wait for antenna to rotate and not every one in the house will agree on where the antenna is aimed , Atlanta or Greenville.

Most Digital Tv's will add new channels automaticly in to the tuner memory when a new channel scan takes place.

And some Digital Tv's have manual function to add new channels.

If adding channels one at time manual.

The Real and Actual channel that is being transmitted and received is what is entered in to the tuner.

Not the , virtual number.

The tvfool channel list , list both the REAL channel and the virtual number.

Thanks all! I have a little more to think about now with trying to obtain those Georgia channels -- so long SIMPLE . My spouse is balking at the complexity of OTA.... Then again, it will be him not me up on that ladder (smile).
