Hello,

I'm knee deep into trying to setup a whole house antenna and would appreciate any help!

Here is my TV Fool Report...

http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...cc4980ee7425b3

I would like to get all of the channels in the yellow but don't need any lower than the red. I had planned on pointing the antenna to the NE but was wondering if I could point it to the NW and possibly still pick up the stronger stations from the NE.

I purchased the RCA ANT751R but I can always send it back if I need to upgrade. I'm open to any suggestions on antenna upgrades!

I plan to use the existing cable wiring in my house for 5 televisions, however there is another tv that has outdoor wiring...so, 6 total tv's!

I had planned on using a 2 way splitter to feed the 1 television with the outside wiring with the other line going down to the basement to the splitter used to get the signal to the other 5 televisions. Thoughts?

I appreciate any assistance as I work towards cutting that cable bill!

Welcome to the forum.

Rather than the ANT-751 (a good choice if only the eastern group of signals is of interest), I would opt for an Antennas Direct DB4e facing the main group of signals to the east-north-east. Add a UVSJ and an Antennacraft Y10713 pointed west-north-west to add real CH-11, 12 & 13.

The ideal home wiring scheme is to run all TV outlets back to a common location (AKA, home-run). By feeding splitters in a daisy-chain, you can end up with far less signal at the end of the chain.

I'd suggest running a new line from the basement to the TV currently fed by outside wire. If that's impossible, run a back feed from the basement to the outside to meet the existing cable run. Be sure to seal connections with Coax-Seal, Scotch #2228 or similar material.

I would replace the basement splitter if it has less than 6 output ports. A Channel Master CM-3418 preamp has eight outputs built in. Terminate the unused ports. If the existing splitter in the basement has enough ports to serve all TVs, try the installation with no amplifier. You can add a Channel Master CM-3410 between the antenna and splitter if the need is proven.

Install the ANT751 above the roof in such a manner that the roof or house does not block reception to the west north and east north.

Aim the ANT751 antenna at about 280 degree magnetic compass direction.

Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

The ANT751 antenna is a small antenna and as such is not a very directional antenna , the ANT751 does have some forward gain , and also receives good to the front angles and back and back angles.

The least amount of reception of a directional antenna is directly on the sides.

With the ANT751 aimed at about 280 degree magnetic compass direction it will better receive the weaker Tv stations to the west north and still receive the stronger Tv stations to the east north.

Install a Channel Master CM3418 distribution amplifier.

I recommend run all Tv's off the distribution amplifier.

As always , trees and tree leaves do a real fine job of reducing or blocking Tv reception and so do buildings and other obstructions including your own house.

It is best to install the ANT751 at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception including your own house.

The Tv's Must Channel Scan for the Digital Broadcast Tv Channels , sometimes named the 'Air Channel' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv setup menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.
