Help with antenna selection for new house.

Hello,

My good friends are moving into a new home in Tonawanda, NY that has an interesting broadcast TV environment. The results of the TV signal analysis can be found here:

http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wr...cc49cbcd52116c

We'd like to receive all of the local UHF channels that make it into the green region, along with mainly CBLT from Toronto. We could live without ION (23, outlier from other stations) and WBBZ (VHF).

Since they'd like to use a TiVo, I'd like to avoid a rotator, so I suspect I'd have to set up a directional antenna pointing northwest for those stations and find an antenna with a wide enough beamwidth to receive the local stations. I do not know how to combine these two antennas together, however. I found the Channel Master Jointenna, but it appears to be discontinued.

The house is two stories and an attic, and faces southeast. If at all possible, we'd like to avoid antennas on the front of the home.

My best guess was a ClearStream 2 in the attic (about 25 feet up) pointing southwest, and a 91XG on the roof pointing northwest. I wasn't sure if a preamp would be necessary, and I have no particular preference for Antennas Direct equipment either. At the moment, I'm only planning on running the antenna feed to one location.

Thank you very much for your help.

Jim

For reception of the Canada and USA Digital Broadcast Tv stations/channels.

The transmissions are strong at your location with a very good pattern of stations directions for reception with one antenna.

I recommend a Winegard HD7696P antenna aimed at about 320 degree magnetic compass direction.

Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html.

The aim direction of the HD7696P antenna is a in between aim direction for the Canada and USA Digital Tv stations to the , west north west.

The USA Digital Tv stations are strong signal strength to the , south west , south , south east. And will be received through the back and back angles of the HD7696P antenna.

Here are some antenna mounts , http://www.ronard.com/909911.html , http://www.ronard.com/34424560.html if using the eave mount use the #4560 , http://www.ronard.com/ychim.html , http://www.ronard.com.

Buy the ronard antenna mounts at solidsignal by typing the word ronard in the solidsignal search box.

Here are some places to buy antennas and etc. , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.amazon.com , http://www.winegarddirect.com , http://www.channelmasterstore.com.
________

Use no preamplifier.
_______

For 1 Tv connected use no splitter.

For 2 Tv's connected use a common simple 2 way splitter.
________

For 3 or 4 Tv locations can try common simple 3 or 4 way splitters.

If the signal strength is to low on the weaker Canada Digital Tv stations in the Yellow reception zone of the Digital Pending Applications Included list.

Use a Channel Master CM3414 distribution amplifier.
________

As always , trees and tree leaves do a real fine job of reducing or blocking Digital Tv reception and so do buildings and other obstructions including your own house.

It is best to install the HD7696P antenna at a location that has the least amount to no amount of obstructions of any type or kind in the directions of reception including your own house.

The Tv/s Must Channel Scan for the Digital Broadcast Tv Stations/channels , sometimes named the 'Air Channels' or 'Antenna Channels' in the Tv setup menu because the Tv transmissions travel through the air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna.

DO NOT channel scan for cable tv channels.
