Deleting comcast! Selection help Please
Please help me select an antenna for reasonable number of channels without rotation. With a poor set of rabbit ears in the attic I can receive channels kiro7, kstw11, king5, kwpx33 easily. I will probably chimney mount on a 10' mast depending on your recommendations. Thanks much!

Tv antennas and Tv reception
Install a ANT751 antenna with a Antennas Direct CPA-19 preamp aimed at about 180 degree magnetic compass. Here is how to aim antennas , http://www.kyes.com/antenna/pointing/pointing.html. Here are some antenna mounts , http://www.ronard.com/909911.html , http://www.ronard.com/34424560.html , http://www.ronard.com/ychim.html , http://www.ronard.com. Here places to buy antennas and etc. , http://www.solidsignal.com , http://www.amazon.com , http://www.starkelectronic.com , http://www.3starinc.com , http://www.antennasdirect.com.Buy the Ronard antenna mounts at Solidsignal or from Ronard. . A helpful hint , feed the coax up through the mast pipe and out the top of the mast pipe to connect to the preamp and antenna. Reason: no taping the coax to the mast and no coax flopping in the wind. The antenna may not need a 10 foot mast for reception , try it at like 5 feet above the mount.

Thanks E, this looks too easy... Do you think this will grab most of the channels to the ssw as I believe this is where most of my networks are? I am unfamiliar with how effective the preamps maybe.

Tv antennas and Tv reception
The ANT751 has a wide forward beam width ( angle of reception ) to the left and right of the antenna. The ANT751 is aimed in between the groups of stations for reception of both groups of stations. The preamp will raise the signal strength and push the signal through the coax to the tv. Turn the antenna to the left and right for the best reception of the tv stations/channels down to KCPQ-DT 13 FOX. The tv must scan for the Digital Broadcast Tv Channels sometimes called the 'air channels' because the broadcast tv channels travel through the air from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna. Do Not scan for cable tv channels.

I have the 751 mounted on a 6' mast, grounded, new fresh cable and cable ends. I am finding that i must aim the antenna almost directly at the source to recieve those station. I have been unsucessful at finding one spot to recieve even most of the stations to ssw. My chart shows me aiming at roughly 221, 211, or over towards 145. The stations towards 145 come in easily, the others need to be almost dead on. I am most interested in the channels along 211 and 221. The results are almost the same with or without the recommended cpa-19 amp but it does seem to help.
So is it just my poor luck in location with several large doug firs? perhaps my older pioneer elite pro1110 tuner is not so great? Im an electrician by trade and postive of my cable and cable end terminations. Thanks for all the input!

Tv antennas and Tv reception
Are there any trees blocking reception to the south east?? How do the south east stations come in when the antenna is aimed to the south west?? Large douglas firs absorb a lot of signal. Older digital tuners are not known for good signal reception.

I recommend locate the ANT751 up higher to clear the tops of the douglas firs or to a location that is not blocked by the douglas firs. If moving the antenna does not help then install a larger antenna , Winegard HD7698P antenna. If the plasma screen is still working Ok , Channel Master has a new tuner the CM7400. http://www.winegarddirect.com , http://www.channelmasterstore.com

Ha I would love to be higher than the doug firs... they are about 120 foot. I think the tuner is ok and as I look closer at things there is a bit of a hill and trees that are in my prime direction of signal.. If I set towards the 145 setting those channels are clear and strong. The good news is that the 751 was on sale at sears for 9.59 as a closeout. So this is a cheap experiment so far...
I believe your orginal idea was on track except for the trees here. There are spots in my attic that get the diff channels nicely, but not one that seems to get them all. Perhaps the larger antenna is the key.
But the best location so far is the chimney mount about 6 ' above the roofline.

Tv antennas and Tv reception
I did not want it to be this way but , a 2 antenna set up , The HD7698P antenna aimed at about 221 degree magnetic compass and the ANT751 aimed at about 145 degree magnetic compass. A coax from each antenna will go to the location of the Tv and be connected to a remote control A/B switch , Radio Shack # 15-1968. And the output of the A/B switch is connected to the Tv.
