Also keep in mind that since cable signals are much stronger than OTA, cable is more forgiving of sloppy installers.

Very long cable runs and many splitters inline don't affect the cable signal...

Since this is going to be a mobile setup I'd look at a telescoping mast. Mount it to your bumper or in the bed of a pickup truck.

I'd also use a rotor to help with aiming to dial it in every time...

I have a similar report as yours and a 4 bay bow tie with no reflector aimed at your easterly stations will pick up those and the westerly ones from the back of the antenna...

All of your stations are 1 and 2 edge and are scattered all over the compass. I'd recommend a high gain antenna such as a DB8e and a rotator to turn the antenna.

The DB8e, (with reflector), has about the longest range, (gain) of almost all the other UHF antennas out there.

If you only want UHF from the west and VHF from the east, I'd put the DB8e on top...

Not really. VHF and UHF yes but 2 UHF is a hit or miss. It can be done but almost no one knows anyone that's been succesful at it. I've tried several times, no difference that I can see.
