The reflectors are the horizontal tubular things...

The reflectors are the horizontal tubular things behind the bowtie whiskers (the wires arranged in an X-pattern). Once they're in place they lock, but you can coax them back by pulling on the tabs....

I wonder about that too. The U8000's two arrays are bolted to a frame, so the reflectors can't be retracted without bumping into the crossbars.

Makes me wonder if I put this thing together...

I would move up to a CM4221HD. A preamp could help significantly, since even with your splitter/amp you are only getting 70% strength on you good channels. Raising your antenna couldn't hurt either.
